Who here isn't on meds for ADHD-PI/ADD?
Apr 29, 2017 - 1:26 PM - by will22
Interested in like a roll call of people who don't take meds for clinically diagnosed ADHD-PI (ADD). Meds seem to effect personality a lot, and while there's nothing better about those who do or don't take meds, still interested.

Was going to post this in the med subforum, but there probably wouldn't be too many of those who quit meds in that subforum.

I seriously feel a fraud. Twice diagnosed ADHD.

Why don't I feel like I have ADHD? And why,whenever I mention I have ADHD,people say "well,you don't seem ADHD".

I am a fairly chilled out guy,to be honest.

Here are the symptoms I identify with:

Bored easily
I was forgetful in childhood (perhaps because I didn't care)
Daydreaming frequently
Slightly impulsive

Working memory is fine. I can remember things like dentist appointments without... [Read More]

I am a 48yo. male. As a child I had severe ADHD ,problematic behavior, learning issues, ect., exerbaserbated by a bpd./n mother. At 12 I was first hospitalized after hitting a teacher. Put on ritilen, until I stopped taking it a few years later. Had many struggles, got married to the most amazing woman I could ever hope to find, more struggles, but my ADHD had all but disappeared. I got a job that I loved, all was good.

At work, they implemented a new computerized system that I... [Read More]

We have a teenage daughter in the 8th grade who was diagnosed with ADHD about two months ago. The diagnosis was made by a psychologist who conducted an assessment. In this case, the ADHD manifests more as inattentiveness than hyperactivity. I would describe it as a mental fog, for lack of a better analogy. This kid has always been quite stubborn. She enjoys sports and making things (like woodworking) much more than academics. She thinks that academics are useless. In the previous two years in... [Read More]

Looking for Insight
Apr 27, 2017 - 3:28 AM - by yeatheboys
Hey all, first time poster so please let me know if this is in the wrong area.

I'm 20 years old and was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia when I was 18.

I've been on Vyvanse for about a year now, I take a 70mg in the morning along with 2x 5mg fast release Dexamphetamine.

I was hoping to get some insight into how to deal with my ADD/ADHD. The main issue I'm having at the moment is my general mental state. Prior to taking my medication I feel very... [Read More]
