When my boyfriend first met me I was working for my good friend in a small store, making poop for money, and if it weren't for the fact my friend knew that I had adhd and needed more flexibility in my job, I would have been fired. Went through large gap in unemployment until my boyfriend was almost ready to dump me when I went back into the office temp field (lied on resume) for awhile. That was for a year and easy since I din't have to stay at on place too long.

Well recently we moved away from the city and now my job search is at a stand still. All my savings that was for a new car went to support myself and us. I can't get around to many jobs I see in the paper, and the prospect of doing administrative work again makes me curl into a ball. I feel stuck and don't know what to do. Recently started taking meds again, seems to help. Boyfriend getting frustrated again. There really isn't a whole lotta work out here, the classified search everyday is leaving me more and more depressed and helpless. Don't know what to do to make him a bit more patient.

Are there any career fields anyone recommends that would train me for free, allow me to work from home (no kinky 900 numbers), pay for my education etc... other than desk jobs?

How do you deal with spousal frustration and let them know that there are some jobs (like this retail job that was really anti-condusive to my adhd that I quit immediately) that might be open that are not a good match?

Thanks!

Oh gee that got me stuck... I would go to the unemployment office and ask if there are any classes there. They are usually free. Also your town/city library might have classes too that are free. Some states still have Job Training which is free. Use your phone book :) Most jobs, I'm familiar with, for from home, are clerical or technical.. telephone ads too are stay at home as well as envelope stuffers.
Why do you need to stay at home?
As for Education, you can get grants from the government if you are low income.
Just thoughts for openers...:)

Some temp agencies have training programs for their staff online... Manpower does that up here and it's free, and you can take any of thousands of classes. Of course, you might end up still being unemployed, or employed as a secretary, while you train. :(

I just interviewed with an insurance company (still waiting to hear if I got the job) I was suprised to discover that there are many different types of careers in insurance. The company I applied to offers all kinds of courses that you can take as part of your work day or on-line.

just had a thought...when I was unemployed one time, I went to a head hunter and they took my requirements, what I wanted from a job etc. you can specifiy whatever you like that way and identify any specific subject interests you have that may work for you

Hi,

I was a headhunter for 10+ years. I would suggest caljobs.ca.gov (only for California) Craigslist.com as another person suggested and Monster.com. In monster you can select a type of job you want using their keywords and if it comes up they will email you.
No site is perfect, so I'd advise you look at all of them.

Headhunters get TONS of resumes especially when the market is a little slower. They are usually not receptive if you go in there saying you dont know what you want...it requires too much memory for them to remember each person/resume. Another no-no is asking to see everuthing they have available before deciding what type of job you want. If they want to work with you, they will code your resume according to the jobs you are qualified for and call you when a job like that shows up.

If you want quick money sign up to be a temp receptionist with as many agencies as you can find in the yellow pages. Temporary receptionist jobs come up almost everyday and if you are consistent (are always available, show up on time and make their client happy) they will put you at the top of their hot list.
Hope that helps. Feel free to ask any questions about temping :O)
