I build things. I like building all sorts of things. My father got me a kit to build a PRS style guitar for Christmas, and I loved the **** out of it, very fun.

At the blues festival in my hometown, however, I saw Tab Benoit playing a '72 Tele Thinline. I fell in love immediately.

For my birthday, my dad got me a build kit for one!

The kit as it came to me.

Attached the neck to the body.

Installed tuners. I realize they aren't configured quite how Fender does it, I think it looks better this way (though their way, I discovered, is more practical).

Applied a coat of boiled linseed oil to the body, front. . .

. . . and back. I ended up applying four coats total.

Finished guitar, among some of its brothers.

Overall the build took me my full day off from work. My father also sprang for upgraded pups which are close to original PAFs. They sound incredible.

Inexplicably hazy photo (cellphone!) of guitars against my wall of sound. Not pictured: Morgan Monroe Blues 32, Alvarez Dreadnought.

Here (http://www.byoguitar.com/Guitars/BYO-Custom-Shop-72-TLine__BYO-CS-72T.aspx) is the link to the kit, though I will caution that a lot of stuff needs upgraded to make it sound good. BYO makes good kits but the stock Chinese pups on most of their models are terrible. The wood is generally good quality though, and the build quality for the most part is solid. This one has the advantage of having a licensed Fender neck so you know that won't be screwed up.
