Hi Everyone-

I'm almost 39 and I was diagnosed with ADHD about 8 years ago. I also have alittle anxiety and OCD.. not alot but enough. :)
I've been on a variety of meds but the biggest help I got was about 8 years ago from a ADD couch. He taught me alot about dealing with frustration and multiple thoughts going off at the same time. I only take a 5 mg ridalin in the Morning and one in the afternoon to help with the work confusion. I get distracted by sound.

I'm a CAD Designer for a Civil Engineering company. I can draft very quickly but if I get distracted... thank goodness for headphones! :D I would be lost without music.
I'm also a low carber which helps with some symptoms but there are days that my ADHD runs away with me.
I'm a single mother of two children: My daugher who is 15, has ADHD with OCD and my son who is 12, with ADHD with anxiety.

I am also a roleplaying gamer, have been since the 80s. I currently do Dungeons and Dragons, and DC Heros.
It helps me with learning to talk to people. I find that there are a few ADDers there some just recently diagnosed.

I hope to meet some new friends and get to know everyone.
:)

Hi Kassie, I'm new here too -- but welcome, anyway! I'm a gamer, too -- when I can manage to get everyone together for a game; we've slowed down a lot lately. I play D&D pretty much exclusively.

If you ever want to talk gaming, let me know!

Welcome Kassie

I envy game players as i dont have the co-ordination or patients to play

I hate games where I always have toi be on my gaurd so I dont get killed

Im dead alot if I play

Well thank you to all the well wishers! I am happy to talk about anything really, so talking to you, kcrady, about gaming is great!
How are you doing this weekend.. all of you.. long weekends are tough for me. I sit in my home bambarded by all these things I have to do.. again frozen in action.. so I watch movies instead. Silly I know.

Relate to this totally....list in my head of all the things that need to get done....but I lie in bed daydreaming getting nothing done....UNTIL.....a phone rings and I'm interrupted from my own "self" absorption....or I go totally stir crazy from my inaction...no watching movies is not silly....normal way to defocus...long weekends can be tough....

Wow its been raining for over a week now! I've come to depend on physical activity to keep most of my ADD symptoms to a mininum, the gym helps but I like walking too.

Well work has been crazy, I was asked literally to use my "super speed" and if it was possible to work faster. I'm a CAD designer and I'm working on a Subdivision. What I have to do needs about 24 hours and they want it done by the end of today with is 4pm. I told them no and this project has no overtime. Sigh.

So how is everyone's weekend shaping up?

Well, like you I have a TON to do and live in fear that I will waste another weekend getting absolutely none of the things done I have planned....

I'm not a Jennifer Lopez fan it just happened she was in two of the movies. I had no idea she could act. Although watching her two movies gave me the feeling that men are attracted first to the face and will be encouraged by the looks before finding out about the personality. Sigh. As usual I read into things too much.
I think Jim Carrey is ADHD without a second thought. I mean have you seen "The Mask" or any of his other movies? My goodness! :D

Kassie: Wow...amazing you bring this up about your picture....YES I like your picture. Your have a striking resemblance to an old friend of mine, Sharon, who lives in Naples, Florida. She's VERY pretty! And nice. And yes your picture is great.

Yes I agree Jennifer Lopez is a pretty good actress. As for other Jim Carey movies I have seen? The only other one I can think of is "Liar Liar".

Anyway, this weekend, I am trying to finish things up for school as my parents are coming Wednesday (for my graduation festivitieswhich are next weekend)....I have to prepare for an oral presentation on Monday...and I have to complete a take-home final. And tonight I am going to my friend Darlene's house who is taking me to dinner for my graduation! (and she is renting a movie as well...don't know which one but will let you know!). Happy weekend Kassie and everyone.:)

Thank you so much. That was very nice of you :)
I've been feeling alittle down and that made me feel alittle better.
Sometimes my anxiety just goes through the roof. Silly but true.

No I can TOTALLY relate to anxiety going through the roof...not silly to me. I have a fair amount of it myself right now...with graduation and all...jobs, moving, etc. And when I get anxious, I feel a little down too. Being overwhelmed and being depressed sometimes go hand in hand for me...

Thanks again, So what are you graduating with?

joanrdtobe
06-10-03, 10:37 PM
Well, I have a B.S. in Nutrition. But in order to actually DO anything with it (that is work as a dietitian) you have to get credentialled as a registered dietitian (as recognized by the American Dietetic Association). So I am going through that long and arduous process now. It has been a year and a half. I will be done this weekend. Saturday is the pinning ceremony and Sunday is the actual graduation. It's actually harder to become a dietitian than it is to become a nurse...anyway....but I will always be grateful for having stuck this thing out...

Know what I mean? My parents are flying in from Boston tomorrow night...:)

Congradulations, Joan! You ought to be proud of all that you did to get this far! I want to go back to to school very badly. I need to be organized to be able to juggle kids, work and school though.

Oh yes, you can do that Kassie. (wow, everytime I look at your picture Kassie, it's weird...you look SO much like my friend Sharon in Naples, Florida!)....one woman here....she's here to get her B.S. in dietetics...she is married with children....many women in your situation do find ways to do it...and yes it IS a juggle...absolutely....but as they say...where there is a will, there's a way....and certainly does require organization...but it is always only done a day at a time....hey at least you don't have a husband telling you it can't be done! or holding you back....:)

Thanks for your kind words by the way...:)

Thank you Crissy! You know what I think? I have an imbalanced brain so all the problems that come with one are here. :D I remember when I first heard this from a doctor and I was thinking "So all I have to do is wear heavier earings on one side to straighen me out" :D
How old are your children, Crissy?

Keppig
06-12-03, 07:31 PM
I want to thank ridalin. I have been suffering from severe anxiety attacks for two weeks. This morning I remember something my mother telling me that people with Anxiety have unbalance cemicals in the brain, very much like ADHD. So I was suffering this morning when I saw my bottle of ridalin that I use during crunch time at work. I took one and my anxiety was cut in half, it was do-able and I'm thrilled. Finally a break. :D

Well today is my birthday and it went much better than I thought it would be. I was suppose to go to a gaming convention but my daughter got a really bad rash and my ex didn't want to take her and her brother due to his baby son. Sigh. Also I had to cancel going to a fair with my sister in another city due to the rash. I also can't game tonight with my friends but guess what? I'm watching movies with my kids. One being I-Spy. I'm trying to think of another. Also I have gotten so many emails from friends and family.. making me giggle like a kid. :D This is where I love being ADHD.. the ability to make any moment fun :)
