Ummm, I actually don't think any of those are puns. I'm pretty sure that a pun is just a word that can have a double meaning when in context, but the word doesn't change. Can anyone clarify this?

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is "have a nice trip, see you next fall", since the words "trip" and "fall" can be interpreted different ways.

sighduck
07-09-11, 02:33 PM
we allready got to the roots of all the tree puns, yew should rather leaf them alone and bark up another tree, i willow like to see ssome new sprouts of interesting puntuation happening here !

diced
07-10-11, 10:30 AM
Do you keep a log of tree puns? Or do you want us to sign a tree-T, so we won't make them anymore?
As if you couldn't take it, like you would get sycamore puns...
I've never felled this stumped.

sighduck
07-10-11, 11:51 AM
well that was a very puntual response... you also made very effective use of puntuation, it was rather punny as well, but if you make another tree joke i will find it very hard not to punch you in the nose, and i nose that you wont like that much

Sorry Sighduck!
I guess I got focussed to a point where the heat turned into a bit of a flame.
Now that the trees are gone... the punlight can shine again!

Hear a nice example of how important it is to lurn proppar spellin ant puntuation:
Without punishment:
Once upon a time there lived a man, a sword smith. He could take a bent s-piece of metal, and re-right it. Now it could cut straight, to the point. Still people say, his pen is mightier than, his swords.

Wit punishment:
Once apun a time there lived a man, as word smith. He could take a band's piece of metal, and re-write it. No wit could cut straight to the point: Still people say, his pun is mightier than hiss words.

sighduck
07-14-11, 03:52 AM
that was really good!!!

it was punny, well puntuated and was a puntual response. it carried nicely to the punchline, and didnt really make pun of any specific person.

i like the way you got straight to the point of the sword-smith joke too

julesjampot
07-14-11, 03:09 PM
Now you are on the write track, but you dont know where to drawer the line. Do you still think that writing long stories is novel !

sighduck
07-14-11, 03:33 PM
i kinda liked history... it was on the write track as you say, but it didnt drive me round the bend. i ink, that if we keep going on this write course of puntuation, we might all be sentenced to a good laugh!

Time to square off with a new angle and get this thread back into shape.

sighduck
08-11-11, 10:53 AM
you got a good point there DS, i dont like the way we were going round in circles... but lets just be fair and square about this, its always pun to see how a joke can take shape

julesjampot
08-11-11, 12:26 PM
