I just spent the last 2 hours typing an important thread. When I pressed "submit"-it said page I wanted was unavailable, and I completely lost all that I wrote. i tried to press the back button, but it only took me to the forum. PLease tell me there is some way to retreive it.
Thanks:(

Sorry, when I remember, I'll select all my text & copy it to the clipboard periodically or write it up in a word processor & paste when ready.

Thanks paulbf for responding. you are right, and what is funny is i actually did that but then I cut & pasted some small line w/out thinking, and my 2 pages were gone.

I actually rewrote, and saved it this time to Word, but still when I press submit, it says "page not responding" Basically doesn't let me post the thread. Wonder what's wrong.

maybe I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks:)

How long is it?

If it's EXTREMELY long then it might be timing out or too long for the forum maximum...

Thanks waywardclam. That is a good idea. Didn't even know there was a forum maximum.

I have written a thread which is a bit lengthy, and which got erased when I pressed submit. I rewrote it, and actually saved it this time, but I still can't get it to post.
Waywardclam suggested that maybe I went over the forum maximum. What is the forum maximum?

Should I just post it in 2 threads and see what happens?

well you seem to be abel to post a small thread ok.

I just did a search to see if i could find a max thread lenght and nothing came up, so i would just do it in two parts for now and some one will probably come up with the answer for you later.

Good Luck :D

Thanks, but unfortunately that is not working either. I tried to post 1/3 of it (and it definitely not that long), and still not working.
Hmmmm....??

Wonder if there's some hidden meaning behind me not being able to post.
I spent all night writing what happened at my eval. only to have it all erased after I pressed "submit."
Then I rewrote it all, and saved to Word.
I just tried to post it 6x (and shorten it), and it still gives me the message "cannot find server"
These messages go through. Is it the cut & paste that is messing it up?

That is strange..I use word and cut and paste here all the time..especially in the recipe section.

Guess we'll have to look into this and see if we can come up with an answer for you.

I don't think it is cut & paste because I used it for that last reply.
I also have some words highlighted in blue. Could adding color cause the prob.? shouldn't right?
I can't think of what else is unusual.
After all that time & effort, I feel determined to post this thread.
Thanks for all your help.

OK, one more bit of info that might help.
When I press "submit," it says at the bottom of the screen
"opening page www.addforums.com/forums/newthread.php"

Then it says it cannot find server.
I don't know if that helps.

I have learned the hard way that when I work on anything that takes a while to do, it is a good idea to save things.

hmmmmmmmmmmm maybe try logging out of the system totally (forums) and relogging in..in case it's just a glitch

Thanks guys! i rewrote it and saved it the same night, and all day yesterday kept trying to post it with no success.

I tried logging out, restarting the computer, erasing the smilies, and basically anything I could think of. Nothing worked.

So now I am left with my long story saved to Word and no way of posting it. I probably have to rewite it for the third time (ahh!).

If that doesn't work, it must be a sign, because I have never had such difficulty doing something so simple.

We'll see. Thanks for all your help.

By the way, do you think contacting Big or someone in admin would work?

No harm in asking

maybe you could send it in a personal message to them to see if they could post it for you???????? Just a thought

I really want to read it now ;) Good Luck :)

Good idea clawless. I'll maybe give that a try.
I can't believe how long this thread got just from me having posting issues.
We're already on pg. 2!
Thanks for everyone's help. You are all such sweeties!

I've seen pretty long messages here. Maybe try breaking it into smaller chapters & post in a series.
