No, during the speech there was alot of background noise. I could never catch his name, but I was able to get the gist of what you were saying. I got quieter during some parts towards the end :)

Oh ok. It was about me as a kid. Yes, it's at a coffee shop, and it can get noisy.

Yes, I just changed the name. I just listened to it, and it is really noisy. I have the recorder on a stand that sits on the stage. I wish there was something else I could do to make the quality better.

Google a digital recording program, upload the recording to your pc, download the free version, and use the noise reduction function.

(((yes you can!)))

Ok, I did better this time, took my meds, waiting an hour and listened again. I am very impressed at how you were able to keep your perspective while sharing such a personal story. I realize they did not have as much info as we do here, yet it was still deeply personal.

I think what I took most from your talk was that our today is not based on our history. It is based on our choices. You presented extreme challenges, points of light/points of success and a catalyst (the teacher) to provide the knowledge that your present experience was not the whole truth of life.

Knowing you personally I value the focus you have placed on the best parts of your childhood. I value your choice to hope, that had to have happened awhile back and though it was not stated explicitly, your outcomes do demonstrate it explicitly.

You did a great job telling your listeners what each part of your speech showed. The point, the example, the point. Very good. I cant remember if you told your listeners what you were going to tell them in your intro ie. I am going to share a life that proves perseverance is a vital habit. I do remember that in your summery you told your listeners what you told them. Very well done anon.

Thanks! I rehearsed the thing so many times. It was almost second nature.

It doesn't have to be based on our history. I provided some things about Frederick Douglass, and that was a man who really chose to rise above what he was going through. Thank you for the feedback!

Well, I think I tend to focus on the negative, but I pay attention to what people do. This has helped me see a different, more positive way of thinking about something (ie yes that was crappy, but it made me be better at something). The speech was about hope, and I was actually amazed at how in tune the audience was to me. I can remember looking at one guy as I was up there, and it was like I really connected with him. I think it had to do with how I got their attention with my Douglass anecdote, or maybe I really am just getting better.

Thank you. They give you the information you need to construct something that is to the point and is properly outlined. This was my speech purpose

"I am going to share a life that proves perseverance is a vital habit."

Thanks so much for sharing the feedback. I'm so happy you took so much from my simple story.:)

Due to complications, which are visible in a ten month pregnancy, I am working on my website unexpectedly. Therefore, you will not be able to click on the link in the first post and find a speech. I hope to have a solution soon.

Only few people in this world sound like Barry White pooka.;):p

Let's see...I could pretend I know who Barry White is, which would involve random guessing and eventually some embarrassment when my guess is totally wrong. I could go Google Barry White, but I'm too busy writing this post and pretending to do chem homework and I really can't afford to be even more distracted. Or I could just admit that I have no idea who Barry White is and feel young and clueless. I think I just went with the last option :D

Well.....He's kinda old.....Shouldn't you be choosing someone a wee bit younger? Like say, Oh, I don't know....Daniel Craig?
