View Full Version : Curves Exercise Program for Women with ADD
Well, I had my 1st appointment today at Curves for Women. I called about the free week that I saw on a commercial. I really like the program. It's great idea for people with ADD. They have you do 30 sec on a machine them 30 secs walking in place then you go to another machine.
I had a hard time trying to listen to the woman who was trying to show me the machines and the cue from the music to move to a new station. Once I was able to to the machines myself it went well.
Let's just hope that I can stay with this for while...
jaimegerise 09-09-04, 02:31 PM Neato Tara, more power to ya....
We have curves here in my city, but I really have a problem with paying for an exercise program when I can exercise here at home for free. :p but best of luck to ya!!!
If I had actually exercised for free at home more than 5 times in the past 2 years I probably would have had a problem with paying for it too...lol
This place is really ADD Friendly. There's no getting bored while exercising like I usually do. Instead of getting bored or dreading that I have 20 more minues on the tread mill I have to pay attention. It's funny I have to look at the clock and listen for the cue at the same time because when there is a little noise I can miss the voice that says "move to the next station".
Are u still doing the curves thing? Just wondering. If so, do u like it? And keep up the good work.
Deeperblue 01-03-05, 06:51 AM a great place. I found that I was really feeling good after a workout. I did skip one of the "machines" because I found that it was really bad for my back. I am starting a walking program, this morning. I also have a trampoline (under a pile of cloths;) ) but after I come back from my walk, I am goinguse it to do some stretching and running in place.
Good luck at curves, Tara.
minn306 01-04-05, 01:13 PM I was going to ask Tara the same thing about if she is still going to curves. We have one that is only about 5 minutes away from our house, but I have been very leary about going to check it out. I have belonged to other work out programs & have quit due to feeling so "under" what every one else was doing. I just did not seem to catch on to "things" the way everyone else did. It is so hard at times to feel that I am not able to accomplish things the way that other people can.
QueensU_girl 01-12-06, 09:38 PM My MIL (mother in law 2B) is ticked with Curves. I guess their system measures "inches lost", rather than weight loss? Anyway, a new (2nd) Staffperson started measureing her, and she had not lost all the inches that the 1st Staffperson had previously told her. Hmmm.
NB for those of you who have political convictions -- you should know that the Curves company owner guy (as well as the 'Domino's' owner guy) are known to financially support Pro-Life organizations. [What you choose to do with that information is your choice, ofcourse.]

minn306 01-13-06, 10:19 AM I did not know that information about Curves. That is interesting.
I have been going to Curves for about 3 months now. The staff is really helpful and the other members are so supportive. I personally am really glad that I joined
astroellij 03-01-07, 07:46 AM I have been going to curves now for 11 months and have found it to be terrific, the staff and atmosphere are very friendly, and before you know it your 30mins is up.
As to the incorrect measurements it sometimes makes a difference if there is a different person measuring ie they are firmer with their tape measure. I have lost aprox 65 cm and 14 kgs, all in all I would definately recommend Curves
Crazygirl79 05-21-07, 09:30 PM I'm also a member of Curves here in Brisbane and I've lost 6 kilos since joining and I'm very happy with that result...it's quiet a friendly place and the exercises aren't boring either....well being with Curves has helped my self esteem and I KNOW I can shed this extra baggage!!!!
To date I've lost 11 or 12 kilos now (I lost 5 kilos before joining Curves)

QueensU_girl 05-24-07, 11:22 PM CURVES is very structured (being circuit training with a live trainer/prompter). I'm not surprised that it would appeal to ADD folks. :)
Crazygirl79 05-30-07, 06:43 PM Well QueensU_girl...strangely enough I've found Curves quiet helpful to my ADHD, it's made my moods better and I seem to concentrate a little better too! but I don't think it's a "therapy" for ADHD but it is an excellent exercise program!
Selena:)
