I would like peoples opinion on what they would find more benifical in Dealing with the issues of ADDed Life

I am going to have a poll on the 3 or 4 things that come to my mind But please feel free to give me any other suggestions as I am in the process of setting up a support group for my home area in Clinton Ontario, Canada and I am open to any other trains of thought for this venture.

Garry - I think all of those ideas are good ones....I would also add perhaps getting together with other ADD'ers in a group setting and reading ADD literature together out loud and discussing it....some of the books that have come out, i.e. Crazy, Lazy, Stupid, ADD in the Workplace, etc. We've all read them to ourselves, but reading them outloud in a group could be very satisfying and enjoyable....

Actully Joan I think that is an excellent idea as it could help in many ways

sharing information, reading and speaking in front of other people, different ideas on what is being read, helping each other ie: those who have a hard time reading

and probally may other benifits that I havent thought of yet

Thank you for the sugestion

Last Summer I was part of an online group coaching project. It was a combination of of ADD coaching, support and information. We had mandatory weekly realtime Voice Chats, email discussions and weekly readings. The people who particpated seemed to get a lot out of it.

The other person that I ran with and I thought about getting it going again but we both had other committments through out this past year to deal with.

Here are a couple of write ups about the program.

Thank you Tara

These are the type of things that I want to help the other people in the area to find

Thanks again

This is like having a family to talk to you know

Seems like when I meet another with ADD we only seem to talk about how much we have in common. Coaching on the other hand would be great.

I have Just downloaded a program from the net that is an alarm schedular that will send a text message to your cell phone at the appropriate time .

It will even dial your internet connection and send the email automaticly

This will be great for myself but for it to be usefull to anyone they will need to have

A cellphone that has the ability to recieve text messages
( My provider allows me 2500 incoming text messages per month for free )

This is the link for the file

It has a 30 day free trial to see if it will work for you

Hey Gary,

You can do the same thing with a Yahoo ID for free without having to download a program or having any program dial up the internet on your pc. I use the Yahoo Reminders all the time, they are a life saver for me. For instance if I have an appointment, or a conference call, I set the reminder in Yahoo. You can email out to mulitple emails. I have it email to the reminder to my work email, my yahoo email and my textpager. I probably could also have it go to my cell phone if I wanted to. You can set up reminders to be recurring, daily, weekly, biweekly etc. I also use it remind myself of taking out the garbage on Wednesday nights.

I have tried so many planners, palm pilot, etc. The Yahoo Reminders are the thing that have worked best for me. Also, a good feature of it is being able to have 2 reminders sent for the same event. I have my default set so it reminds me 1 hour before and then 15 minutes before, but that could be changed to whatever you want, 3 hours then 1 hour, etc. You can also set it up in Yahoo to have the calendar of your day emailed to you every day and it will list our the appt, tasks, etc that you have set up for your self to see when you get your email. You don't have to worry about free trials, because it is FREE!!!! Just go to Yahoo.com

You could have it email to your cell phone as well. I used to have it sent to mine but the text was limited to 160 characters total, so the Alpha pager was more useful for me.

If you have any questions on details for it, let me know.
