I just found this site and have a few questions. I was diagnosed ADD in June and started taking Adderall. I would have to say my biggest complaint about having ADD is my lethargy, I am sooo tired all the time. Do others feel the same? The adderall did seem to help I could make it through a day without being exhausted, it helped a bit on being able to concentrate but it seems to be losing it's steam. I also am getting tired again. I am taking 30mg daily, is that the top dose? I have an appointment with my dr on tuesday and I am curious what he will do to change things. Before I was diagnosed ADD i was on effexor, the dr thought I was so tired because of depression, the effexor did help clear my brain a bit but I was still so tired all the time. I weaned off that (which was horrible) and started adderall, I think the combination may have actually been good for me. I take zoloft now but i don't think this combination is really the key. Is it possible to go over 30mg of adderall? Does anyone take effexor and adderall, or wellbutrin and adderall?

Welcome Debs!
You can go higher than 30mg/day adderall. You can combine it with those meds. There were some interesting discussions about stimulant tolerance here & it seems maybe sometimes you get too anxious for the effect & think it's not working when maybe you are just going through some changes & it'll all work out given patience. First it's a matter of finding the right dosage & the right med, then stick with that. It is possible to switch flavors to ritalin, dex etc to avoid the tolerance but that seems kind of a rat race & better to be patient, not too eager & anxious about it.

Hi Deb...I'm new too and have found this site to be a great resource already. I wanted to mention something about your tiredness. Everybody is different but here is my story.
I have been retired for a couple of years now. I was diagnosed with ADD well into my 40's. After I got to a point of being very stressed by work to the point of not feeling like I could get out of my tail-spin, I went to talk to a psychologist. She felt that I may have ADD and sent me to a psychiatrist to be tested. He made the ADD diagnosis . I went on adderall for a while and it helped me. Now that I am retired and can set my own schedule, translation - hugh amount of stress lifted from my shoulders - I am not tired anymore. I do not take any medication right now. The trick for me while working was to downsize any pressures I could. If you can, reduce working hours or at least responsibilities , get enough sleep, EXERCISE and/or meditate, be around positive people, do something (hobby, not work related) that gives you pleasure and/a feeling of inclusion/accomplishment. The stress of my job kept me from moving, even thinking. I was able to change jobs and reduce my responsibilities without loosing any income - very lucky. But, that helped me start to get on the right track.
This site will be the beginning of finding out that you are not alone in this and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Have a sense of humor...it IS funny sometimes! Good Luck!!
