I guess this is where it should go. During the last couple of days, I've been having one anxiety attack after another (seeing a counselor about it on Friday, actually). To help me clear my mind, or during the really dark, worried periods that accompany anxiety, I started doing a hobby of mine, which is MSPainting things.

So here is some of the stuff I have MSPainted. The first two I did with no anxiety at all, just because I could. The second three I did while in the middle of a series of anxiety and worry attacks...I don't want to call them attacks really, because that's not what they were: more like general periods where I was worrying about everything and I couldn't stop...oh, I derailed...The final one I did while coming out of the rut this evening.

There are also links to two very large (600x600) images using repetitive patterns of complex geometic symbols.

Heh, cool stuff. I especially liked the anxiety ones & the last color geometry really kept my eyes busy!

The triangle one turned out a lot better than I first thought, and I slapped some lighting effects onto the gradient in the background, which made a really cool pattern I decided to keep. It's currently my background on my Desktop, hehe.

I really like the ADHD one. I've kept them all to show my middle daughter. She's on a drawing binge these days.

Two new ones. The first one was done during an actual anxiety attack, the second immediately after it was over, while the anxiety was going away...I like these ones a good bit, but forgot I hadn't posted them until I found out I have fans, heh.

Got inspiration and started (got it outlined) this morning before my big speech...finished it this afternoon. I was a bit concerned about the speech, heh. I've yet to see if any new art is going to come from my being in trouble with residence life, we'll see how inspiration rolls. I only worry because I'm not worried; I probably should be.

I went ahead and, by request, made desktop size versions of the ADHD image. One has color, one doesn't. The image wasn't the right size to directly resize, so I left blank space near the top and bottom, and included words to define what should go where on a Windows computer. If you don't use windows, you can remove the text by opening the file in a paint program and using the "eraser" function, or ask me, and I can do so. The files are 1024x768, and will be relatively large.

Like I said, I colorized one, just for fun. Hehe

And yet another one...this has the flavor of an anxiety one, but I wasn't really having any anxiety at the time...it was just the right thing at the right time, I think. I actually probably prevented an anxiety attack by making it, LOL.

Well, I'm there artistically: I'm now confident enough that I did head on, with faces...

That said, this is another "anxiety series" type one...child and a man walking. I relate to both, but more the child than the man, heh. Oh well, you'll figure it out yourself...came to me during a class, I was feeling a bit down this morning, heh.

Anxiety based one...I'm becoming increasingly confident...but this also becomes increasingly difficult...I think the double edged sword of being treated for Anxiety disorder is that when I don't have anxiety, I have a lot less artistic potential, as far as what people like to see. But on the other hand, anxiety attacks suck, so I guess fair's fair...anyways, here's number 8.

10-04-04, 10:40 AM
These are cool Kieth. I definitely wouldn't worry about "artistic potential, as far as what people like to see" this stuff has got to be for you only without worry of what folks think. That's the best kind of art, the rest is just illustration.

KMiller
10-04-04, 10:56 AM
Good call, Paul, hehe.

As far as what mouse I use, I am using a university-issued gateway lasermouse, on a white peice of paper so it doesn't drift.

10-04-04, 11:14 AM
keith,

these are great! as far as losing your artistic potential, right now, it seems like you are expressing the "anxiety art" because that's where your focus lies - that's what your reality is right now. so, that's what you are expressing. when you move through the anxiety, and onto a new experience, your art will have different nuances, but, i have a feeling it will be just as expressive and beautiful.

i can't wait to see what happens to your art when your focus/mood shifts. i'm hoping you fall in love soon! ;)

thanks for sharing these.

Big update today, because I'm uploading a lot of art I haven't uploaded before.

Another of the Anxiety type ones...

http://img33.exs.cx/img33/9158/down9boybed.gif

And here is an old image I did playing with PSP a long time ago...

http://img40.exs.cx/img40/6773/Horizon.jpg

Here's a series of images I did a long time ago by taking symbolically important numbers (33, 23, 17, 7, 5, 3, and so further...) and using them to set colors and angles of bars, then overlaying them over eachother in a pattern and playing with it...you can tell what manipulations I did based on the filenames.

By far the coolest from that series...

The anxiety pictures from later posts were great.
When i look at the sketches u posted for anxiety in the first post, it does seem to me alittle bit like depression and isolation from the world.

More stuff...the heavenly light series is just me playing with some lighting effects way back in the day...only number one of those is actually any good, the other 3 are kind of crappy.

Then there are two more "Down" series ones. I was only nominally down for both of those...Zoloft is definitely working because I don't have anxiety attacks nearly as much, in fact, I haven't had one in two weeks...I'm way happier, too.

But fortunately I've maintained my ability to draw... Number11 I don't like so much, the proportions are wrong and I made it when I was way tired and bored during Tuesday Chat, which was empty, so I was bored...and I just kind of drew it. Number 12 I really like.

Keith: Great art work....FUN to look at.....It might even PREVENT an anxiety attack.....You have MUCH talent.....And I agree with Paulbf's comments....

Perhaps you could become an illustrator for an ADD book someday......Why not contact one of the many authors out there who write about ADD and see if they need an illustrations for their books?

I am pretty much illeterate when art is concerned but I definitly saved some. I really like the anxiety ones as well. Will be looking foward to seeing some more (love it if you could get rid of the anxiety but not the painting)

KMiller
10-25-04, 11:51 AM
So far, it seems as if I have been able to do just that, tryn. Zoloft has kept my anxiety more or less in check, and yet I'm still producing.

I have been playing with a fractal program a lot lately. Here are some things I made. (WARNING IMAGES ARE DESKTOP SIZED)

http://img8.exs.cx/img8/8060/Neuron1.jpg
http://img8.exs.cx/img8/2340/Neuron2.jpg

http://img8.exs.cx/img8/1149/Fusion2.jpg

And there is one more Fusion one that looks way way cooler, but it slightly too big for my hosting, so I will have that up later. For now, I must go to class.

I wish I could say that this is hardcore artistic, or something, but really I just messed with fractals until I got one I thought looked cool, then messed with that slightly until I got results that I thought looked cool...heh I hope you all like them.

RhapsodyInBlue
10-25-04, 02:11 PM
Keith! I love them! I just knew you would be good at this....I hope you post more. Oh, and you can take these into PSP or whatever graphics program you use, and lower their opacity allowing you to merge them with your own images. Some of mine I showed you in messenger were merged images on top of fractals !

Keep up the work! :)
