View Full Version : Dreams
misclee 05-27-03, 09:28 PM Any recurring dreams? I dream that I can fly, that I am being chased by buffalo in the desert, and that I spiders are falling on me in slow motion and I can't move.
My flying dreams are THE BEST!!!!
joanrdtobe 05-27-03, 09:35 PM Oh what a great idea for a thread...!:) :)
You have interesting dreams. Misclee....Um, I dream about men alot...a LOT....getting rescued by them occasionally....and sometimes just being with them....mainly I forget what I dream...
misclee 05-27-03, 09:39 PM Yeah, I don't remember them like I used to, but when I do, they are very vivid. I don't get to have very many men dreams:(
I once dreamed about Clint Eastwood........eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewe!
joanrdtobe 05-27-03, 09:41 PM Clint huh? He's not bad...he's been in about 60 million movies.....I dream about goodlooking men I don't know....:) sort of like fantasy men:) That way they are just what I want them to be....
I used to get an awful one that my teeth were falling out. I haven't had it in while but it's a really scarey dream
misclee 05-27-03, 09:50 PM Ooh, I've had that one....they keep falling out....it never ends. I also had a dream like that, but it was like gum, or something like it, in my mouth, and I couldn't get it out...it just kept coming and coming.
andrea76 05-28-03, 04:40 PM i hate the flying dreams,
i wouldn't say I was afraid of heights or anything,
but some how, i can't stand the concept of not being in control,
i guess that's why i don't like roller coasters.
I had been gaving that tooth dream on and off for years. I brought it up to a psychlogist a few years back and she told me to go to the dentist...lol...I wonder why she wasn't too helpful to me...
jimmmaaa 05-28-03, 06:05 PM I used to have a paper route for about 2 years(8th and 9th grade). I had a recurring dream, even one this year, where I would forget to go do my paper route in the morning, ususally at 4 to 5am, and would not get out to do it until 11am. It would be a Sunday where I had anywhere from 140 to 160 papers to deliver......on my bike!
I can't figure out what that dream means, but whenever I have it I wake up with my heart pumping, like I need to rush out the door to get it done

Boy, some therapists just don't get it, huh?
Flyfisher 05-28-03, 10:53 PM I have dreams all the time that I am looking at rivers, lakes, or ponds and they are filled with fish that I am trying desperately to catch. It's an awesome dream when I catch them, frustrating when I don't! Just like fishing, lol.
I dream all of the time that I am back in college and I suddenly realize that I have forgotten to go to a particular class for a week or two. Then, I can't remember what time or what building the class is in.
And then there is the one where I am out in public at the store, a public funtion, etc. and I realize that............I have no shirt on!  What's up with that????? I hate that one, lol.
Barbette 05-30-03, 04:08 PM I have very lucid dreams . I have difficulty distinguishing what I dream from what is real. .
I was telling my wife the other nite I had a dream that I was dreaming and I woke up but I cant tell for sure if I realy woke up or woke up in the dream
It was one of my strangest
joanrdtobe 06-03-03, 03:25 PM I'm job searching by long distance right now...and it's really on my mind right now....so I had a dream last night that I was SCREAMING at one of the people who was interviewing me.....like she wan't hearing what I saying or something...or wasn't understanding one of my qualifications:( (gosh does this mean I am too desparate to get hired?)
I'm job searching too, and I could swear I heard you screaming in the next room during my interview!...lol Screaming is a sure sign of frustration.
joanrdtobe 06-03-03, 07:50 PM Oh my god Andrew, you're kidding!!!! See, I want to have it all "figured it" before I move back to Florida....I'm trying to get everything done here at school, graduate in 1 1/2 weeks and find a job long distance....I just want it ALL NOW....so you heard me in the next room, huh? Well, I guess I better tone it down a bit.....
How is your job search going? Any promising interviews as of late?:)
Yes, I've had a few, but it seems no one is in a rush to make a hiring decision...and now with school out for the summer, companies are filling some slots with school kids and internships, as a stop gap.
I think the worst decision I could have made (career wise) was moving to Florida. Ah well...too late now.
joanrdtobe 06-04-03, 06:21 PM Andrew: Are you positively NOT relocateable at this time to a state that is in a better position to hire you? (incidentally, California has TONS more jobs for dietitians than Florida as well....I wonder why Florida job market overall doesn't seem to be that great):(
misclee 06-04-03, 07:27 PM So, then Joan, why not stay in Cali? San Francisco is nice:) I know someone who would love to take you to lunch here:)
joanrdtobe 06-05-03, 12:44 AM Oh my god, here we go again...you are JUST TOO NICE and complimentary Misclee....okay, listen to me...are you buying?? okay, let's do lunch...:) I'll fly up tomorrow....
(seriously if my family were there, i.e. in San Fran, I would move there...reason I'm going back to Florida is because it's warm, like Calif, BUT it's only a three hour plane ride away from my family in Boston...all of them are in Boston...they're always getting together without me and I HATE that...did you read in "Friends" thread how my brother and his wife have the cousins club get-togethers? Well if I were in florida, I could go home a little more often and ATTEND those too!! But flying to Boston from Calif. is a pain in the *&%(*$#^. !! So see why I must leave Calif...??) But you are soooo sweet, Misclee...:)

Not many people get lucid in thier dreams let alone very lucid! This is a real treasure!! I am jeliouse. Were you able to get full blown control and try a few things?
Used to get 5-6 a week ant thought i was doing good. They went away for about 12 years. the last few nights my dreams have been unusually vivid- lots of dream signs - usually is a prerequisite for the lucid ones.
Any one else have these truely lucid dreams. If you have any doubt or are not sure what I mean ... then you dont. And please anyone else who gets them back me up on this.
I have a dream "world" I have been building since a kid. A Big Island in never land - kinda the peter pan thing. (Funny .. my mother used to sing the peter pan song all the time with referance to me - "he's -the -little - boy - who- never- grew- up, - my- name- is -Peter -Pan")
I Frequently have dreams of flying- thier the best!!
I quite often have dreams of the most awsome music I have ever heard resounding from the heavens -these are great too.
The ones I hate are the ones where I am laughing my head off (thats the good part) and my wife wakes me up (thats the bad part) because she thinks im having a nightmare!
I have only had 3 or 4 nightmares in my entire life - the worst was batman using a brain drain scan gun on me because he thought i was lying! - I was only 5 yrs old. Havent liked Batman since.
Good night
Pleasant dreams - o yeh .. and May all your dreams be lucid!
Nucking_Futs 03-21-04, 03:08 AM The one dream I alway's had growing up and as a young adult. Was that I was extremely good at something. Between, his, hers, ours, and theirs I have 14 sibling's. I could never do anything as good as they could and alway's gave up. I just wanted ONE thing that was all I asked. But, it seemed like everytime I took an interest in something one of my sibling's also took an interest and were far better at it then me.
I don't know when I stopped having the dream for sure or why. But, I haven't had it for year's.
Jellybean 03-21-04, 03:26 AM I have a lot of reacurring flying dreams of all sorts and a few new ones occassionally.
I lucid dream a lot. I usually make a happy ending. I also often wake and continue them.
Ihave reaccuring rejection type dreams of my birth.
I have had some really cool dreams, one about spending 20 years in jail, another where a prophet told me some cool things, a couselor gave me a cool interpretation of that one.
I love dreaming!
Nucking_Futs 03-21-04, 03:29 AM I usually don't remember all of my dream's but I do wake up to find my husband or kid's laughing at me because I'm laughing in my sleep.
Jellybean 03-21-04, 03:46 AM I was laughing big time the other morning in my sleep, My kid yelled (he was up before me of course) Mmmooom stop, your laughing in your sleep. I felt so good being that I had a good laugh. Too bad I woke up!
vermillion 09-06-04, 05:22 AM I have the most horrible dreams and nightmares almost everynight.I say almost everynight cause other nights I am awake.
My dreams are like a movie, most of them are connected to eachother and the things I see scared me to death.I had a few therapist and whenever I told them about what happens in my dreams their face and attitude changed in a second...(really upsetting)
I have walked in my sleep a couple of times,(maybe more.I lived alone for a long time so I only realize it when I woke up outside my bed.),and this year I started to talk in my sleep. My husband says I have long conversations with someone and the things I say makes sense ,like I am on the phone or something...
I hate my dreams...I can not get over them next day...They effect my life :(
typogenerator 11-29-04, 01:02 PM Hey guys!
I don't know if my dreams/sleep quality are related to my ADD, OCD, or just the big D (Depression), but I regularly have absolutely awful dreams that create a range of feelings from severe discomfort (mental) to outright terror.
I dream stories like I'm watching a movie or in the movie, and often, both, which leave me feeling mildly to severely unsettled when I awake.
On good days I can shake the feeling in an hour or so. Bad days take a bit longer.
I have these dreams on and off meds, and do not abuse any substances, prescribed or illicit. I see a wonderful psychiatrist twice monthly, but he has no solution. Xanax can help (as well as other benzos), but that's not the route I want to take. I tried Ambien, 1 time, and my dreams were even worse on it.
CAN ANYONE HELP????
Thanks
