I just started on Methylin (Ritalin) last week for ADD. This is the first time since I was 16 (im now 19) that I have been on a script for ADD. When I was 16 I lived overseas and the Dr. had me on Adderall 20mg BID (twice daily) and I took the occasional third a day when I needed it. The Adderall regiment that my Dr. had me on was great with noted improvement across the board, however on my current regiment my new Dr. has me on (10mg twice daily) im not experiencing the same reaction. I feel it for a short while, and then it will wear off leaving me with a headache and feeling physically drained. Im thinking of asking if switching to Adderall would be an option considering my past success with it, however i am afraid of coming off pushy and in search of drugs with this being a new Dr. Even though ive consulted pharmacists ive worked with (im a certified pharmacy tech) and i feel that in my situation this would be a better option im hesitant of asking my Dr. and sounding pushy, especially since im a new patient. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I don't think its an unreasonable request, especially given your past positive experience with Adderall.

I would explain what your experiences have been, and ask your doc what he thinks.

Since you're already being prescribed a stimulant, I don't see why he would think you're being pushy to be switched to a new stimulant formulation.

Please let us know what happens.

Good luck!
