I went to a Psychiatrist last night for a second opinion on ADD. My visit with the neurologist was not good and I wanted a second opinion.

It was kind of interesting. He was running late when I got there so I had to amuse myself in the waiting room. I can keep myself seated but I do fidget a lot. I read everything on the bullitin board and then started to squirm a little. It gave me time to get nervous LOL.

So he called me in and said hello. I made an inaudible reply. He repeated HELLO louder and more forcefully as if to say, "you really need to respond to me" So I said hello loud enough for him to hear me.

He introduced himself and started doing the normal information taking.

Then he asks me to tell him why I am there in 3 words. - side note: I knew he would be doing this since my husband saw him earlier this week. It was what spured my 3 word post. - even with forewarning I could only think of two words on the spot. I said procrastiation and chaos.

We filled in the information. He asked the general questions about who handles the money, housework, etc. Whether or not I worked besides being home with the kids.

At least twice he asked me if I was nervous. I was clearly tense as I usually am in situations like that. It was funny because after he made his diagnosis I loosened up a little.

So the result was that he does think I have ADD but I also have social anxiety. So he gave me some Zoloft to start and I go back next week for a new ADD script. I think I'm going to try Metadate CD.

He did comment that I must have done a lot of research since I was well aware of the medication options. I said "yes, I tend to do that" LOL I honestly think I new more about the medication options then he did. He had not idea about Adderall and said it was just methylphenidate(he found that was not acurate when he looked it up).

All in all it went pretty well considering I only got about 30 minutes. Hopefully things can start to turn around for both myself and my husband.
