I thought this might help us all by listing what we have in our childrens IEP that way we could compare and see what we might want to have added to our childs IEP.
Heres our sons hes 13 and in 7th grade which is Jr. High.

Check for understanding
Peer Tutoring or small group
More time on task
Preferntial seating
Use of worry rock or stress ball
Use of class notes or manipulatives
Text books or AR books on tape at teachers discretion
Modified AR points
Modifications can be done in either location
Shortened assignments.
Set of classroom books at home
Access to Content Mastory classroom

Now our school has been back on again for 6 weeks now and I have been fighting with the school already this IEP was done at the end of last year.
Little did I know it was way to broad left to much room for speculation by the teachers who don't even know our son.
I have met with an advocate who told me we have to close the gaps on some of the things listed other wise this IEP does our son no good at all.

Check for understanding should be reexplaining the objective especially in math class which is Pre-Algebra this year and hes having a terrible time grasping the concepts. The teacher doesnt view this as meaning she actually should have to reexplain anything at all she thinks once should be enough.
Modifications there have been NONE at all this year.
Shortened assigments as needed well there have been none every nite he has between 30 and 60 Pre Algebra math problems.
Use of class notes or manipulatives to me this means whatever she has note wise she should give him to help him grasp the concepts of the math. To her it means she hands out a worksheet that has an example on it and that should be good enough. Why should this be more work for her!

The advocate said it has to say your son/daughter will do a % of the work the rest of the class does for instance 50- 75% of classwork and homework should be 50% of what everyone else does.
Check for understanding means the teacher has to reexplain it if he ask this will be reworded in his new IEP. The teacher he has doesn't really want to have to teach.
I think we as parents know our children better than anyone else but when we go to an ARD we are left sitting there feeling so intimidated by the others on the committee. We have to stand up for our kids and close the gaps on all these IEPs so the schools can NOT make the assumptions to whats best for our children.

I hope everyone else will share their IEPs so we can all help each other.

Well my meeting was NOT GOOD.

The advocate and I were both there but the school had its mind made up before we go there.

No gaps in IEP got closed and I am having our son tutored by a different teacher 3 days a week.

I am giving them 3 weeks the advocate agrees if they dont do what we want them to do then its time to get nasty with them. He will be moved from this teachers classroom in 3 weeks.

I sat in this meeting listening to a teacher who had nothing positive to say about our son not one thing. It takes him to long to get out his paper the last 30 mins of the day to start on homework. Hes very disorganized and off task.
He moves around to much in his desk he doesnt try to do the work before hes asking a question about how to do the work.
HELLO do teachers really not know what ADHD is?
