Well, it's difficult to explain, but I don't feel connected to my body. I feel kind of like it's a suit--a cold, heavy suit--that I am forced to wear.

Does anyone relate to this?

well, I don't know if this counts, but I would say that I feel connected, BUT my limbs don't seem to be on the same page as the rest of me. Not only do I feel uncoordinated, have poor balance (I've had my share of slips & falls in my dance class! ), but I am constantly banging into things. Particularly walls/turning corners. It's like my body doesn't realize the proximity to things, or maybe it's that my arms/hips are just out there flying on their own - no awareness to what's around them. I SEE the object (table, wall, corner, etc.) but I STILL end up banging in to it anyway. :( This is painful & can leave bruises. I am such a clutz. *sigh*

I can actually relate to the proximity issue. Like a bull in a china shop, I will often take a corner a little too close, and hit my wrist on the wall, etc.

When I've gone on eating binges -- and God knows I've been on quite a few in my day -- I TOTALLY feel disconnected from my body. It's as if I really live from the neck up -- only. I've been told that for me feeling disconnected from my body is partly a result of my childhood trauma. So to heal, I have to do things to reconnect my mind to my body....like meditation or physical activity...not easy....because sometimes I would rather STAY disconnected, thank you...:(

Wow Misclee,

That is an excellent question. There are many time that I don't feel connected to my own body. I know that the whole mind, body, soul connection thing is very important too.

Yeah, I know there is something not right about it, but I don't know what, if anything I'm supposed to do. I don't ever remember NOT feeling like this. Some times are worse than others. Sometimes I don't notice, and sometimes I feel suffocated in this "suit." Wierd, I know.

Misclee, you said you run...do you feel re-connected when you are doing that?

Nope. My body feels heavy and like it can't keep up with me.

Like it can't keep up with you? Is that mental, physical, psychological, etc.

It can be. Not always, but sometimes it feels really suffocating. Usually I don't really think about it:) No worries...just wondering if it was just me:)

Oh YES relate to that one Paula in similar way as in my eyes/mouth not connected to my brain...go to movie theater....can get small, medium or large popcorn....my eyes/mouth wants large....my brain wants medium....I choose medium or large depending on what kind of day I'm having.....It ALWAYS turns out I get full on a medium......and large is ALWAYS too much......ALWAYS.....assuming I am alone......

(if I'm on a date sharing..... forget this whole thing)
