Hi, well I've been taking Dexedrine insta-release or whatever you'd like to call it for a while, it works really great, I take two doses a day, but I find that if I skip a dose or even miss my first dose my appetite goes wild, I binge eat like crazy! I used to have binge eating problems but once I went on ADD medication I was able to eat on a regular schedule and I wasn't stressing about the odd snack here and there, I was NORMAL for once.

Anyways, anyone else have this experience and any suggestions? I've been thinking of spreading my dose throughout the day more.

I do not take this medication, but I have heard of the rebound appetite you mention. One suggestion is to be sure that you do not miss a dose. Others have posted about watches with multiple alarms to ensure that meds are always taken on time. Many cell phones have an alarm function that can be similarly programmed. Use the forum SEARCH function to explore the threads about this. Also try looking in the medication section for info. Good that the dex has helped with the binge eating:-):) GD

I have this same problem and I thought it was me....I've gained 50 pounds over the past 2 years. I spoke with my doctor because I had started to see a connection and didn't no if it was me or what. He said it wasn't just me.

I don't have any answer to this.......

Best answer I can think of at this point is to just try to wake up at regular times in the day and keep a normal schedule...easier said than done, especially being a student lol

This happens to me too - I take a late afternoon dose to specifically prevent this! I credit most of my weight loss to date with being able to control binge eating now that I take dexedrine - but if I skip a dose I have to be really careful not to stuff my pie hole with snack food! Of course working out helps too, of course.

The "insta-release" you are taking is the plain ordinary Dexedrine It lasts from 4 to 5 hours. If you take it twice a day, somewhere in that day, your medication wears off and you return to your old binge eating habits.

I used to have binge eating problems but once I went on ADD medication I was able to eat on a regular schedule and I wasn't stressing about the odd snack here and there, I was NORMAL for once.

That is a great idea! Find a does that 's rigth for your ADHD symptoms and keep that does constant during the day. My doctor insisted on me taking a steady dose during the day. I was skeptical at first, but I'm glad he did now. It works very well and my symphtoms are gone for the whole day.
