I love to dance, but my daughter laughs and says "Even though you dance good, Mom, you are too old to dance" I'm 39 soon. I just can't believe that. What do you think? I love to dance to 80s music and modern dance stuff... anyone else?

Hey Kassie -- Tell you what. Grab your daughter and dance WITH her. Seriously, I HOPE 39 isn't too old to dance because if it is, I'm in serious trouble because um, I'm a few years older than you. I think if you got two arms and two legs and you LIKE to dance GO FOR IT. You are NEVER too old to dance. Actually some time ago back in my squaredancing days when I was an undergraduate, there were people there in their 60's....anyway, enjoy your dancing. I even like to put on loud music, shut the door of my room and dance in my underwear. IT REALLY improves my body image issues:)

please, when i wasa kid i laughed at my parents dancing too. But i never had more fun dancing myself, than watching them cut a rug.

i was 17 . . .my father was 47 and my mother was 45.

I think it depends on where you live. Kids always think you're OLD, so you can't listen to them in this case. But depending on where you live, either everyone out dancing at clubs is under 25 or there is a nice age range, or they are all using walkers. That's what I love about San Francisco, there really is something for everyone:)

i love the fact that i grew up with my parents music (as did most of us i'm sure) and while i found my own little niche i've grown to completely love my parents music.

I love the look of pleasure on my father's face when i can sing all of his favourite beatles tunes.

I have abunch of work and school and curling colleagues that went to the detroit Movement festival (electronic music) and I am pretty sure the ages ranged from mid 30s to possibly fifty...you are never too old to dance to any type of music. I love especially the DJs who mix the jazzy house and funk from the 70s with more modern music...I used to go out dancing a lot, but got out of it for quite a while. I now dance in my own room (even went to a DJ/record shop and bought some dance music....on vinyl)....another good place to go if you have a computer is to groovetech.com...they have some good music archives where your can hear and see djs play streamed over the internet...in the comfort of your own home...its a good way to get rid of the energy and fidgitiness that builds up in ADD people...

I have a collection of 45s that I got from 1981 to 1988. Over 200 of them. I wish I can get a record player. But it requires a reciever.
I keep looking for used ones but usually they are in really bad shape and no needle. I would love to record them all on a CD, scratchy and all. :D

we need newer needles, but i know where i can get a new one. . .

Why dont you just download the tunes you have from the internet

You have a leagel version of the songs

there is no law against rerecording your songs that you have allready paid for

Im 49 and I love to Dance I think Im really good

But I guess its all in my mind as my wife tells me Im a terible dancer

But thats her veiw I still think im really good and nobody is ever going to change my opinion on that

It wouldnt be that Im having fun and really dont care how silly I may look or that I cant move my feet in time to the music

yard sales are often a good place to go for the receivers and reocrd players (I have gone through about 10 turntables since highschool, as many of them are hard to get needles for, sometimes you have to buy a new cartridge altogether...or just go to another yard sale and pick up another turntable for cheap...which is sometimes much cheaper than buying new cartrides or needles...). as far as recording records to cd it can be difficult depending on the type of sound card you have in your computer and the level of knowledge about sound recording...I am not sure how to do it myself with my own computer....but I do know that there are stereo component recorders out now and the prices on those are coming down gradually. The cds for those stereo component recorders are a little more expensive than regular rcording cds as they include royalties for artists in the price of a box of discs...but that is undertsandable to some degree.
