Hi All -

I have to congratulate this group on the informative, thoughtful posts contained herein. Although I guess I've known that I've had an ADD-like condition for years, it was only after spending a couple hours browsing this board that I finally made the decision to make an appointment with a psych.

Surprisingly, he prescribed Dexedrine right away. No cajoling, acting, or persuasion required. Even gave me a choice between that and Adderall. Based on what I read here, I opted for the Dex. My initial dose (he indicated he's open to dosage feedback) is two (2) 10 mg spansules; one in the a.m. and another in the early afternoon.

This is day two. The improvement in my concentration, motivation, focus, etc. is simply amazing. I did more at work in one day than I usually do in a week. There's also the usual side effects, but nothing too bad. What I really notice, and in order of importance, is the buzz from 9am - 3pm and the corresponding crash, around 5pm.

Obviously, my dose is relatively low so the buzz/crash aren't too pronounced. My question (and thanks for reading this far!) is thus:

I understand that the "buzz" wanes with time while, in general, your focus/energy/concentration does not, correct? So, if the "buzz" fades, does the "crash" fade as well once you've become accustomed to your dose?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

By Dexedrine do you mean the "generic Adderall" - both are a combo if 3-4 "salts" or
dexadrine alone ? Most likely you are refering to the generic. Sounds like you have learned a lot from these posts.

Anyways, from my experience ( one year - adderall 30 mg XR - timerelease ) - the crash is not bad at all - you sort of expect it after a while. I think someone who has
used the non-timerelease form can respond with a better answer.

I'm taking Dexedrine 10mg a.m. then a booster of 5mg later on in the afternoon. I went from Ritalin to Dex and the crash was so much easier on the Dex that I really didn't mind it or pay much attention to it.

I don't experience a noticeable crash anymore at all. The positive effects have remained and only one side effect that I can identify has increased and that's the anxiety.

I've tried lower doses of Dex but any lower and I don't think it would be worth the bother from what I've tried.

I'm going to try and combine it with something to counter the anxiety after the tenth when I see my doctor.
Welcome to the forums.

i have been on dex for three and a half weeks, i take two ten mg tabs three times a day and for me the "crash" that i experienced has diminished quite a bit. it is no longer something i notice unless i am conciously expecting it and i expect it to diminish even further as time goes on

Hey that's a good question. There are several meaning of anxiety, the one you would find on medical links is more of a psychotic condition.

On this board I think people mean such things as: your sense of well being is off, your center, your "chi," doesn't feel right. Maybe you are nervous, you can't sit still, you feel uneasy, you can't pay attention, you think your heart is beating too fast or that your blood pressure is too high, you worry that you might be having a heart attack, your mind keeps shouting SOMETHING IS WRONG.

Just general crash stuff.
