Last night I ran my spyware removal program .

It found some stuff and as usual I hit delete......... WRONG!....my BAD!

It deleted some essential files!...(((((( )))))))) (((((((:o ))))))))

Tonight my PC went down!...:(

The PC wizard in our household is "My Beautiful Hairy Critter" ...(otherwise known as Viktoria)... and affectionately so named, in honour of her totally beautiful, thick, shiny, Ebony Black Mane" of waist length "Crowning Glory" :D

After some frustrating repairs taking about an hour, my PC is now running beautifully again........ Thank you so much my Darling! :)

*Time I stuck to hunting roses and updating "Adaware, Zone Alarm and Spybot"...

All my love and kisses to Viktoria

I suppose I drove my brother wacky when I got my first computer. I'm a curious mind that is prone to experiment. If you are frustrated Viktoria maybe it's time for separate computers? Or at the very least a real operating system where regular users don't have random access to system files.

Linux has been a wonderful addition to our household since January of 2000. Since then I have not had to reformat or run anti-virus software or suffer the ill effects of worms, Trojan horses, and any other malware. I don't get "pop-ups" and it's free for the downloading.

For beginning I suggest trying a "Knoppix" disc if you have lots of RAM. Then if that proves your hardware isn't dovetailed to run only with winduhs then try an install of the latest "Mandrake" or "Fedora Core 2" and see if you too would like to have a secure operating system that keeps users out of the system files by default.

Heaven only knows why more people don't do this but hey.. I'm certainly not most people and I like it that way.

Really cheap Linux discs can be purchased from cheapbytes on-line. I bought three big operating systems a while back and paid under $13 US for the three and shipping.

Another really good source for Linux discs is your local Linux Users Group. Yes there will be one. Check on-line.

Here is the best Linux newbie guide on the web.

Windows is for most people. You follow common people and you get
what they do. If you don't, you get what they don't.

Ian I picked up 3 computers from the garbage last week

a 366 mgz celeron 256 meg of ram and a 6 gig hard drive (my daughter claimed it)

a 233 mgz with 64 meg ram with a 2 gig hard drive (but with a really nice case )(room for 3 hard drives with clip in slide out holders for the Hard Drives)

and a 100 mgz with 64 meg of ram and a 10 gig hard drive

Combining the 233 computer with the 10 gig hard drive and all the ram

this will be my new linux machine for the winter play hours
