Benadryl, commonly marketted as an anti-allergen and anti-histamine, contains one single ingredient: 25mg Diphenhydramine HCl.
Unisom and Generic Sleep Aids contain one single ingredient: 50mg Diphenhydramine HCl.
Benadryl costs about 7 bucks. Unisom costs about 4 bucks.
They both have the exact same chemical, just with different on-label uses. But they are both the exact same antihistamine.
Therefore, next time you are buying Benadryl for allergies, just buy some sleep aid instead. It's a larger dose for a single pill, and cheaper!
