What's It Like To Have ADD?

What is it like to have ADD? What is the feel of the syndrome? I have a short talk that I often give to groups as an introduction to the subjective experience of ADD and what it is like to live with it:

Attention Deficit Disorder. First of all I resent the term. As far as I'm concerned most people have Attention Surplus Disorder. I mean, life being what it is, who can pay attention to anything for very long? Is it really a sign of mental health to be able to balance your checkbook, sit still in your chair, and never speak out of turn?

As far as I can see, many people who don't have ADD are charter members of the Congenitally Boring.

A.D.D. As we all know in the "linear thinking world" stands for

Attention

Deficit

Disorder

I also find this to be very negative !!

In my world A.D.D stands for

ADDaptable

Determined

Dedicated

Like the word association that we have all been playing for dons

Can you guys and gals give me some more positive words to exchange any that I might have.

Even if you can only think of one word to change please post

When were done and have a slew of Positive words then we can vote on a new meaning for A.D.D.

Thanks

Garry

Garry,

Could we identify diplomacy,

as perhaps a hallmark deficit in ADHD?
