I'm curently taking reg.Adderall 15mg tabs 3 times a day. And I was wondering if Dexedrine or Desoxyn work better, because of the fact that both Meds are stronger. I know that not many people are prescribed Desoxyn. Can anyone out there tell me if they have tried Adderall & switched to Dexedrine, or if anybody has any knowledge of the difference and how it feels to be on both of these Meds in comparison to Adderall?-Another question does smoking affect any of the stimulants effectivness?

Well, for me niether adderall or dexedrine worked for me, im currently looking for desoxyn to see if that works, ive tried every adhd pill out there and none has worked for me other than vyvanse but i grew a tolerance to it and its no longer effective. if you ask me, go strait to desoxyn if you can find it, might as well go to the strongest med.

I am not very qualified when it comes to ranking the stimulants as I've just started my first one ever; but the Dexedrine Spansules 10 mg is doing absolutely nothing for me.

Just because it's stronger on a per milligram basis doesn't make it better. It just means you'd have to take less mgs to reach the same 'equivalent' effects.

Meds work differently for everyone. Someone might find 5mg of dex. x2 a day works best. Another person might need 30mg of adderall 3x a day.

I specifically requested my doc to give me adderall and dexedrine at the same time to try when I first came to him. I found that I preferred dex better. It was just more reliable than my adderall. On some days my adderall would work ok but others days it wouldn't work as well. Dex, for me, was very consistent. I don't know why though.

I have never taken Adderall, but I have taken Desoxyn or Dex alternating between the two for the last 3 years with great results. I also take 5 mg of focalin with either drug to balance out my brain propperly. This combo for me produces great results, but everyones needs are different.

everyone is uniqe. For example, Dex may work for you and for someone else it fails or has horrible side affects, or vise versa. This is why when you first are looking for a medication, sometimes the docter might give you a couple samples (or at least mine did) and let you diside what works best for you.

i read in one of these threads somewhere that you cant know what works best for your add until you test it out. i take a kinda high dose of adderall (120mg) and would like to see if dexedrine works better so i can lower my med intake. i've read so many mixed reviews but like you said, all of them work differently for each person. gotta wait 2 more weeks to possibly find out, lol. :)

I've noticed on this forum that people going from high doses of adderall to dex. are often unhappy with the switch. Still worth a try though IMO. They seem to say that dex. lacks the 'kick-in-the-pants' that they've come to rely on adderall for.

there is only one generic version of dex left on the market and it is made by Barr.

Barr definitely DOES give you a kick in the pants. it makes me buzzed and more verbally verbose. the old generic i took only sedated me and made me calm, gathered, focused.

a lot of those who didn't think Barr gave them a kick took the old generic by Mallin, which isn't made anymore.

is Dex by Barr expensive? my adderall is only $1/tablet.
