Today my psychiatrist prescribed me Fluoxetine, the generic of Prozac. He said it has possible sexual side effects such as decreased libido. Chances are I will experience that side effect since it's happened to me when I've taken SSRIs in the past. I was wondering if there are any drugs that can counteract these side effects. Any information would be appreciated because I hate having decreased libido .

We have to separate the sexual function into two parts: The "wanting to" and the "act". The prozac and other SSRI's killed both for me.

Viagra or Levitra can bring back the "act", but the I don't think there is a drug out there that will bring back the "wanting to" part....

Good luck with the Prozac.

There are studies that show that augmentation of an ssri with mirtazapine helps counter the sexual side effects. I have personal experience with this; Zoloft makes me completely impotent but lowering my dose and adding mirtazapine has led to significant improvement.
