BIG, for me the eyecatching part of the article you linked was:

"In our experience, many of the children misdiagnosed with ADHD in fact are assessed to be suffering from significant developmental and learning disorders; attachment problems, anxiety or depression."
This raise this question, unanswered in the news brief: Does this mean that medication was somehow effective for this group suffering from these disorders? Will the new approach to diagnosis take into account comorbid conditions. In other words, just because someone is clinically depressed does not also mean that that person cannot have ADHD.

Coral, stimulants used to be prescribed for depression. They work.

Still, this is a shocking report. I thought that was the misperception, not a fact. I wonder about the credentials, motivations of the researchers. I've not heard of similar unbiased studies here in the US. I also wonder how this pans out for adult ADD?

I am a little confused by the part that says they "tabled" their report. Does this mean it is or is not available for scrutiny. It would be interesting to see their criteria for defining ADHD and how the study was set up.
