Anyone know how i go about getting diagnosed. Do i see the doc first? Do i ask him to refer me to someone else.
Theres alot of talk about neurologists, do i ask to be refered to them.

Hey there gen. Uk services/referal service is poor, I'd request a referal from gp to an nhs adult adhd service though waiting list is usually in excess of 12 months. Depending on its importance/level of impact its having on you I'd recommend a private diagnosis as 12 month wait is a minimum

Just made an appointment with the docs for next thursday. This is just to get referred.
I also sent an email to a private clinic.

I only got diagnosed when I got admitted to hospital for another condition, I hope you manage to get an appointment soon.

ADHD assess, especially for Adults is a joke.

For me it went something like this:

General Psychiatrist "So why think have ADHD?"
> ADHD Specialist (who actually was a neurologist to I think, lol) They asked same as first Psych,
> then had to do some overly simplistic
"rate betwern 1-5 how true/false this question/statement is" there being one side for childhood, one for now as Adult.

Then back to General Adult Psych who I find out 3 months in is clueless.

Hope you get to regulary see an actual Specialist.

( btw you're gonna need a support group through initial stages if are DXd and put on meds, it aint ad easy as I thought progress wpuld be, i'll say that! My situation was kinda different though. But advice still applies. Supportive people around and ADHD friendly environment is a must!')

ADHD treatment especially for Adults, in the UK, is also a joke.

Ohh... I got a suprise "Autism?!?!? You're joking right?!!'" ... I got a DXd of ASD when got ADHD DX, and ASD has a high DX rate with ADHD, so heads up if you get a bonus DX to xD
