Hi All,
I know that I have and been treated for ADHD, and GAD, but have a questions about OCD. I'm not sure if I have some OCD or am just overexcited about projects. I don't have any symptoms where I have to do the same routine over and over, but some things just stick in my mind and I can't get them out.
Here's a real-time example. Right now I have a laptop PC that won't boot corectly. It's an old piece of junk that doesn't even have a display. The used price in Ebay for one in it's condition is about $30. But I can't get it out of my head. I keep hooking it up to a monitor and use another PC to research it. I know it's not worth the trouble but I still do it. I actually get nervous and jittery thinking about what to do about it. Now this is a way for me to make the obsession go away. If I just break it so I can't be fix, all the anxiety instantly goes away. It's like a relief that I don't have to think about it any more.
I do this all the time, especially with my guitar stuff. It's my main hobby and I tend to spend more time thinking aobut how to change things rather than just be happy with what I have.
What do you think? Is this OCD or just excitability associated with my ADD?
thanks,
Al
