What's your favorite flavor? Anything goes. An unbelievable ice-cream parlor just opened up right near where I live..and they have "cake batter" flavor ice-cream...YUM...:D
So what's your favorite ice-cream flavor??
Chocolate is my favorite flavor because it is usually is consistant from one company to the next so that when there are too many flavors to chose from I can always choose chocolate and not be disapointed.
aforceforgood 06-14-03, 06:58 AM That stuff with the caramel all marbled through it. Oh my god. If you're gonna eat frozen sugar, might as well go all the way with it.

Chocolate or mint...mmmmmmm chocccccclaaaate :)
missing_cues 06-14-03, 11:23 AM I liked chocolate for a long time, but lately I have been somewhat into vanilla....in terms of the other flavours, there was this one that I think was callled "sour raspberry" and it was by far my favourtie, but I have never been able to find it again...if anyone else knows of this flavour or something like it, put it ont he board so I can figure out who makes it...
You know...I used to work for an ice cream store called "Steve's", originally started in Boston, I think. You choose your favorite ice cream flavor, then select from a wide assortment of "mix-ins" - anything from crumbled sugar cones to M&Ms to fruit to crushed heath bars.
Favorite ice cream flavors? Too many to choose from! lol
Lafnalot 06-14-03, 07:42 PM Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Muddy Sneakers.......all Wawa Presentation Flavors.

Yup Andrew I SO remember Steve's. So I know you worked very hard when you worked there...because you had to manipulate the mix-ins into the ice-cream and that takes a lot of bicep action or as our moms call it "elbow grease".:)
The ice-cream parlor that just opened here...has those mix-ins...many many of them.....and first one is free....:)
Cool, Joan :) And you're right...It DID take alot to get all those mixins....mixed in! The more mixins, the more difficult, as it took longer to mix it, and the faster the ice cream melted :D
Chocolate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
joanrdtobe 06-15-03, 03:07 PM Yesterday I craved a sundae: fudge ripple ice-cream....marshmallow topping with strawberries....with sprinkles on top....okay no accounting for calories or fat or if I would regret the next day..just wanted one:) but never had it..:( or maybe that's a good thng:)

Missing -- Okay at the ice-cream parlor last night they had a flavor called "raspberry soda"....and it was ice-cream, not sherbert or yogurt....any chance that was it? I asked the girl behind the counter who makes it and she woudn't give me an answer...she said "oh all of our ice-cream is made fresh here, and is original". Figures....:)
missing_cues 06-16-03, 04:06 PM thanks for the reply...I guess I'll just have to try to make it myself somehow....probably could do it with some sort of raspberry/citrus/sugar mix type of thing...I am always trying new stuff in the kitchen...I'm sure I'll come up with something
joanrdtobe 06-16-03, 10:42 PM Missing -- Do you know that YOUR recipe may be an improvement over the original raspberry sour that you had mentioned....You sound pretty creative:)
missing_cues 06-16-03, 11:09 PM well, I cant be sure...it would probably take some trial and error...I may do something this weekend if I can get the time (right now I am working on my thesis proposal presentation due wednesday and I am getting pretty frustrated...and a little depressed...I think a weekend of doing something I like may help out with this). Anyway, I would first hae to find a quick ice-cream recipe and then see what I can do in terms of adding the fruit. I would probably try to use fresh raspberries, lemon zest and some sugar and reduce these to a sauce of some sort...Its been a while since I last made ice cream....depending on how it turns out, I may put the recipe up on this board once I get it perfected...
I had a really quick recipe for ice cream before and have made it in mint flavour (worked fairly well) but I have yet to make ice cream with fruit and I am not sure about what will and will not work...I could also try to make it w/o sugar of any kind for those who would like to make it for people with dietetic restrictions...once again, if it works out, I will put the recipe on the board under the proper forum....(I am pretty sure I saw one about nutrition...although, I must admit, while I am a pretty good chef, I am not that accustomed to cooking for people with dietetic restrictions and thus the recipe may not show up for a while). I am also looking at experimenting with vegetarian cooking soon...anyway, congratulations again on your graduation...I know somewhat what you've been through and I admire ayone who can scientific related programs, especially biological programs...I am in sociology and that is difficult enough...I was never that good in the sciences...KUDOS!!!!
joanrdtobe 06-16-03, 11:16 PM Oh aren't you sweet....YES sciences are a bi*** to handle sometimes...and I had to take not only biology but also chemistry, biochemstry and nutritional biochemistry......and my ADD of course was always challenged....I had to find creative ways to learn the material....anyway, so you're writing your thesis proposal? Is this for a master's in sociology or doctorate or both?? Good luck....and yes it would be great to see your ice-cream recipe here...no matter if dietary modifications are taken into account or not...:)
missing_cues 06-16-03, 11:22 PM The thesis proposal is written, I have to put into a presentation such that I can present it...(that being the really hard part.,...basically, writing the presentation without the rambling aspect so as not to put my committee to sleep.....and its on discourse analysis and government policy regarding land use and indigenous people...making policy sound interesting is hard enough....). anyway, I am doing a Master's Degree right now...I would like to do the Ph.D. eventually, but this degree has been such a hard long road, I dont know if I could stand another six to seven years of educational hell...I need a life again....(I may do a night school thing in culinary arts at the college level though...).
joanrdtobe 06-16-03, 11:29 PM Well good luck in preparing the presentation...and then presenting it....:) I doubt that you would put them to sleep...after all, they must be interested in your topic...right? and so a presentation on it will be good....just don't forget to use your wonderful ADD personality and "tone" when presenting....:)
Dannydorm 06-17-03, 01:09 AM i like rocky road and mint chocolate chip and strawberry:)
and congrats joan:) i know you worked very hard. you deserve much happiness in your career:D
joanrdtobe 06-18-03, 04:07 PM Dan -- you are the BEST:)....and incidentally at Disneyland yesterday I had a Mickey Mouse shaped ice-cream sandwich.....his ears and all were part of it......great ice-cream and lots of fun to eat!!
Anything homemade is my favorite. Store bought..hmmm...Pitascho Almond, Moose Tracks, Heavenly Hash, & Chocolate Mint. As for Ice creams shops. Pineapple Almond frozen yogurt is really good.
But my all time favorite is my homemade Pina Colada Ice Cream..it's to die for. Especially if I don't have to worry about any children eating it..then I can add the real rum. ;)
joanrdtobe 06-19-03, 01:29 AM Well, okay Spirit would you care to share your secret recipe?:)
for homemade Pina Colada Ice cream? (spiked or not with rum):)
I would love to Joan...but you'll have to wait until July gets here as I'm to busy to look for it right now...my kitchen is in a shamble because I'm trying to reline my selves, and finish painting the cabinets..lmbo
And to think in just 8 days I'm going to have 50+ ppl here for a wedding..ugh...I need about 4 of me right now..lmbo
But rest assure once I get all this done and this wedding behind me, I will gladly post it.
joanrdtobe 06-20-03, 03:50 PM How nice of you to have someone's wedding at your home.....50 people, wow! Yes that sounds like a LOT of work.....do you have help....? Like caterers or cleaning ladies?:)
