Well, nothing that I hadn't expected. You guys, among others, have been such great help and I just want to thank all of you guys for the guidance and support!

He put me on Focalin, 2.5mg, 3 times per day. It sounds like a low dose, but he told me less Focalin is required to have similar effects (strength-wise) of Adderall/Ritalin because it's all dextro. I'm set to start tomorrow morning and I'm kind of nervous.

Do any of you guys have any experience with Focalin; and how does it compare to the likes of Adderall, Ritalin, Vynanse, etc.?

How should I expect to feel, so I don't freak out over something that's normal? How can I tell it's even working? How can I tell if the dose is too strong or too weak?

Yea, that's a very low dose, but he may intend to titrate you upward gradually.

How's the 2.5 been?

Extremely ineffective lol.

I don't know if the doc will mind, but I tried taking all the doses within like an hour's time. I didn't want to go over the limit he gave me, so basically, I did 7.5mg within an hour. I feel like it's making my symptoms worse... I can't seem to focus at all when I'm reading or doing something. I feel like it could be making me a bit more irritable as well. And I feel tired at night once the meds have "worn off".

I'm going to give him a call tomorrow and see if he'll raise my limit and see how 10-15mg will go.

focalin is such a weird thing, when it works, it W-O-R-K-S.

But a whole lot of times you'll find when taking it, youll experience what you have. irritable sleepy etc

Ritalin is nothing to focalin, it's just more reliable

I've found that with all the methylphenidate based meds there is a very fine line with them working well vs. not. I think that is why more people respond to and prefer amphetamine based meds. Everyone is different though.

Totally agree

I have had some recent success with focalin and proper hydration, although this will vary from person to person.

With me, I have to drink a few liters of quality spring water per day
