I hear that Focalin is a magic form of methylphenidate that won't turn me into the over focused walking dead. Will Focalin really treat my ADHD without lobotomizing me? Why are there only an elite few taking this magical drug?

What is that big difference between focalin and other forms of methylphenidate? I noticed that focalin has "dex" in front of its name and according to goodrx.com the brand name is really expensive right now. I am curious now.

Focalin is like a magical hybrid...that's as much as I know...could be a pile of sh** however...I guess the old saying of if it aint broke don't fix it springs to mind here..I'm looking at swapping meds as mine are starting to poop out but don't want to jump to another med if it isn't going to be anymore beneficial than what I have at the minute

Very true. Is Focalin available in the UK?

It's the "active" half of ritalin. When you isolate one half of methylphenidate, you are left with 100% of the "potency" of the whole, but half of the side effects.

So 5 mg Focalin = 10 mg Ritalin, but that 5mg of focalin has the "same" side effects of a 5 mg ritalin dose.

If side effects (including zombie brain, apparently) prevent you from upping your ritalin dose, you can get to where you need to be with focalin.

The dex does not mean Dextroamphetamine, it stand for dextrorotatory.

I have a private psych so he is happy to write off license scripts, its a matter of importation fees and script cost, (though this wouldn't be without a thorough consult on changing meds/starting new meds)

My child was taking this pill 5 mg and is now going through ticking movements that are horrific. And she is in her own world zombie like She was not like this before the focalin.

Focalin is potent. Her dose sounds like it's too high, they make 2.5 mg pills.

I tried focalin, and I never once became a zombie. I did become a little edgy and agitated though.

I think focalin's better than ritalin, but I've decided to go back to dexdedrine.

I agree about focalin being so potent, the 10mg 2x is such overkill

I'd like to try the 2.5 tablets, having to slice and dice the 10's gets old and annoying

Focalin is easily 4 times as strong as ritalin, I don't know why they say it's only twice as strong.

Not good at the moment due to life circumstances so it's not my primary at the moment as 36 concerta is

Gonna try low (2.5) afternoon doses, hoping I can ride out through the life stressor on concerta and return to focalin

Concertas good and dependable, just not as good for reading/idea formulation as focalin

On concerta and straight Ritalin less wobble works better . On wellbutrin , 150 and testing 300 xl . 300 works better if your going to be on wellbutrin, focus better without it but well stops being kinda depressed . Don't know if I will stick on well, thoughts and speed of processing better without it

Focalin zombies only exist in an overdose situation in which heavy drowsiness occurs
