Hey There!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I think the only thing weirder than being diagnosed with ADD is now being treated for it. I was so optimistic stating the dex, and I definitely noticed a real improvement at first. As I increased the dosage towards what my doctor told me was what I would need (12.5mg/12.5mb/7.5mg) it seemed to get better. And then I started to get wiggy. Especially when I took 12.5 mg.

My doctor has been hard to get a hold of other than the appointment I now have for next thurs. So even though I'm sure I shouldn't really mess with the doses, I have been trying to find out the best dose myself. Since 12.5 got me so wired I couldn't think strait, I went to 10/10/7.5 a day. That seemed to be ok for a few days but I was still feeling a little wiggy and trying to get myself to go to bed was impossible. Then I went to 7.5/7.5/5 and I'm not sure how I feel. I still feel a little buzzed out and I'm not sure how much its helping my ADD. My body seems tired from all the meds. I don't know what to do now. Of coarse I will wait to see my doctor late next week, but has anyone else felt the same way?

How do different doses effect you?

How do you manage feeling overwhelmed by the meds and helping your ADD symptoms.

Trying to figure out how your brain works from one day to the next is like explaining the difference between red and blue.

I appreciate your comments.

Hey Lion!

That's a bummer you aren't getting magic results. Me either. Have you any history with substance abuse I wonder (I do). No guilt trips, just curious. I saw your recent posts here, maybe gives a little bit more background on your situation:

This is probably pretty natural since you're just starting out on the Dex. It takes a few months for your body to get used to it (not building up a tolerance completley). When I first started on Dex I'd get dizzy spells sometimes and bad indigestion and I was often very thirsty and whenever I was sitting still or lying down I'd get leg tics. These subsided after a couple months. But I still find the dose works as effectively as before, and I feel pretty natural on it, not zombied-out like I was on Ritalin.

I have posted else where that dex made me "speed" and didn't sleep for days. I was only taking 5mg! Go figure! I do have a history of drug abuse just for the record which is how I know what speeding feels like in the first place.

So I switched to Strattera (40mg then 80 now 120). Think I need to cut back to 80. I think I felt better at 80. Short on breath today.
The doc said I am also Clinicaly Depressed although I don't sit around in a dark room. I am active so forth...but when things go bad for me and I mess up I get down on myself. SO Wellbutrin came into the picture - first at 150mg now 300mg for the past two -three weeks. Again I think I felt better on 150 and I definitly felt more content/calm also I got an extra effect for ADD. they say Wellbutrin helps. Most signficantly I haven't chewed my fingers ever since (first time in 20 years) - usually I gnaw them till they bleed.

I should also mention Strattera has some side effects that may convince me to change meds all together (could be the Wellbutrin but there is a much shorter list of side effects for W). As I increased doses they "flared" up. (1. "the male" problem [not totally broken just not as much "out there"], 2. urinating seems to be not as strong (prostate issue?).)

So all in all it takes a while to figure out dosing. My impression is that doctors like to dose you till you feel adverse to know your threshold. I am hoping to hear back from my doc later who will tell me to cut back on Strattera (I hope) becasue I just bought a large bottle of 300MG of W. (you can't cut them in half) [maybe take it every other day?) My advise about increasing for instance 150 to 300 is to have the doc perscribe you 150 pills in double the quantity. Atleast if you lower your dose you can still use the pills.
