I was was diagnosed a couple of months ago with ADHD. I was working with a company and had health insurance through them. Unfortuantly I was in the process of moving and taking an different job assignment. I no longer have that insurance and am in the process of getting my own health insurance. I notice when filling out the paperwork BCBS ask if I have any "pre exsisting" conditions. Does this mean if I put that I was diagnosed with ADHD a couple of months ago that I will not be covered by them? I don't see how this would be possible that means you could never change insurance companies. Do they ask this question becasue they will give you a higher premium? Does anyone have any thoughts or advice I would really appreciate it.

A "preexisting condition" in insurance language is basically anything you've seen a doctor for in the past 6 months. So, yes, you will need to put down ADHD. If not, they'll probably get the info anyway because insurance companies all report to a central bureau where this stuff can be checked.

Whether or not you're covered depends on the exact details of your policy. You're more likely to be covered if it's a group policy (through your employer) than if it's an individual policy. Also, if it's a group policy, they can't raise your premium individually, so you don't have to worry about that.

What I would do is call BCBS or your benefits person and ask them that. They'll know your details better than anybody here will.
