Very nice. You're good with textures -- I especially like your trees.

I've been busy , Mt. Lion and a Mule Deer . I started a Moose a couple days ago. The Moose is a Memorial painting for a friend who passed away this year at 54 and his nick name was Moose.

Please teach me how to see!! :)

I have such a hard time seeing true shapes and colors. Especially shapes in perspective and foreshortening. It's as if I can't stop my brain from over-interpreting what it sees. I want to just see. Do you have any pointers?

Pick an object, set it in front of you, now look at the object and don't look at the paper and draw what you see. It's called Blind Contour drawing. It will help train your eye / hand coordination.

Starting to get into some detail landscape now..

Looks incredible!!!

I did blind contour drawing in art school... well my brother taught me first when I was 14. I drew in ways I had no idea I could. I stopped doing it, though! I just didn't know that blind contour drawing was the best way to see shapes. I even tried making blurry glasses that turned everything into blobs, I used grids. But as an art student I was just about the worst illustrator around (I majored in Fine Art Sculpture but was more conceptual.) I still am.

Thanks!! I'll go back to that. I wonder if I can do it with a photo.

I would start with smaller objects. Something you can set on a pedestal on the table a few feet away and draw.

Inspiring!

Bell thanks, it's not patience it's what's called Hyper Focusing. I would lose my mind it I had to do these with out the help of being ADHD. I loss track of time when I paint. Some days I will paint 8-10 hours and not realize it. I find I do better when I am not taking the med's also. I really have to like what I'm painting also or I lose interest fast.

Yep, thank goodness for ADHD and hyperfocusing. Glad to see it working for someone in a way that's not detrimental! :p

Do you find yourself to be more creative off meds? (I know this is true for myself) :)

I do but for work I find it harder to focus on the tasks at hand which are detail oriented in antique refinishing and repair work.

*claps* Well done!

I know exactly what you mean about the hyper-focus. I'll sometimes forget to drink/eat, and "come up" from a painting session only to find that it's hours later than I thought -- even with such cues as the sun setting/husband coming home from work. It's like slipping into another dimension...

off my med's I am more creative, But after 13 years on them I forgot how to be as creative.

How long does it take for you to complete a work? I attached 2 files. This tiny skull took me 50 hours. I am VERY slow. I find it relaxing and do it only for personal enjoyment. The skull and the ear are exercises. I've never done this before. Once I started some ADHD meds my hyper focus seems more focused.

Time is right for a well crafted rendering. Many of my painting will go 150 + hrs and a few over 200 hrs. My Indian. pen and ink with quil were 80 = hrs. each .
You do excellent work and have a great future in art.
Thanks for sharing.

Mr DaveHawk!!! True application ( which I would like to know more about how you maintain without getting sloppy :) )

They are all amazing :)

That racoon? in the tree is incredible :)..... Such similar tonality yet it just leaps off the canvas! ( I saved a copy I hope you don't mind. Hang on, I'm gonna save the pelicans too ;) )

Thanks for sharing man :)

Edit: Saved the Moose? too ( Cariboo? ) :)

I've learned to hyper focus and or take my Stratera. I sit back and study often while I paint. I may spend an hour or 3 and then sit back and study what I did and where to go from there.
