Who here has brothers and sisters? Do they have ADD? Do you get along well with your siblings?

Okay I am the middle of three kids....older sister and younger b brother....we are VERY close in age. Once upon a time we were one, two and four....I am the only sibling with ADD and mild bipolar and OCD.....My brother was on antidepressants for awhile but I guess he was "cured" because he is no longer on them....My brother and sister are both recovering alcoholics...but no real mental challenges at the moment. We do get along quite well these days actually. Growing up, however, not at all. We fought all the time. :( But time and growth and maturity has brought us closer to together.....:)

I have a sister that I am very close with. She does not have ADD, but has had trouble with food all her life. We are thinking of writing a book together. We have had a lot of fun over the year and at times can laugh at our screwed up childhood--At other times we have to cry about it, and then we still understand one another. My sister is the kind of person you love to be with and people are naturally drawn to her, a born leader. When she was in college she was in this Spanish class that she was struggling with and a bunch of students in her class rallied for her to help her. Most of these students lived on or near the campus of UC San Diego and my sister lived 20 to 25 minutes away in the Mira Mesa part of S.D. Well ALL of those 5 or 6 students drove out to my sisters house to help her with Spanish, problably without one single thought about it, probably thinking: "no problem, let's help Hillary!" But the funny thing about her is that when you are not with her, she can seem like another person, one you would not be around base on her emails sometimes, sort of like she is very selfish and has to squeeze you into her schedule. But when you are talking to her or with her again, you forget the part that you don't like about her completely. I really love my sister a lot and would not have made it through some difficult times after high school and during my early 20s. She also funny, but not necessarily funny on purpose. We were at this wedding for one of her college roomates in Fresno, CA. Fresno is a growing Suburbia in the middle of the state in the central valley, mostly surrounded by farming. Anyway, some of the people their were a more of the farming/cowboish part of the Fresno area and these people were dancing not that far from us and my sister said, "Look at all these HICKS, I love it" And we sort of quietly tried to say, "Hillary, shhhh, quiet, don't say that." She then said, "What? They Know they're hicks" It was one of the funniest moments ever. I could tell a bunch of stories like that one. I guess, with all of her contradictions and all, my sister is one of my favorite people in the world.

I have an older sister who is a teacher. She and I get along very well..sometimes she and my mother **** me off a bit because they will make a comment like "oh, someone needs to take their medication today" when they know that my sister has been provoking me until I snap (she knows that she can do it and as Long as she can make such comments, she thinks she can get way with poking at my sensitivities as much as she wants...but I still love her to death...). Anyway, I used to get into huge arguements with my sister but over the past few years she has been great.

My big brother was diagnosed with ADD about 10 years ago (he's 30). I was just diagnosed last week. If for some reason, my 20-year-old sister has it - she uses it to her full advantage ;)

We didn't get along much during our teenage years, but now that we've matured - we adore each other. They're 2 of my best friends.

It also really helps to have my brother to talk to about all of this.

I have ADHD, so does my sisters all three of them. Some of us also have some OCD as well. My mother displays the ADD side of our family and my dad the ADHD side. :)

Ps I'm considered the black sheep of the family.... I'm the only one not materialistic...and I'm ok with this ;)
