Just posting this at 4:30 AM cause I'm up & bored. Sorry if there isn't any real point to this post.
I'm not usually nearly this bad but a storm is moving in & that usually makes things worse. I tossed & turned from 9:30 & sort of half dreamed about worrying or researching my insomnia, looking at the clock every hour or so till 1:30 then woke from an icky dream at 2:00 & gave up trying to sleep at 3:30.
Ugh.
I took 1mg neurontin to no effect tonite. Last night it wiped me out, after the usual 2-3 hours tossing & turning I slept till 8:30 & could barely get up. Usually I wake too easily in the AM. I'm going to try some adrafinil (similar to provigil) even though I'm not particularly sleepy during the day, I just don't know what else to try. I gave up most other meds because of percieved insomnia problems (wellbutrin, effexor, zoloft).
I've cut back on drinking, I used to knock myself out with about 9 drinks each evening which of course left me waking in the middle to pee but at least I slept. Now the drinking does wierd things, just a few drinks & it's wearing off by the time I go to sleep so I've got this nasty mild hangover kind of feeling & a bit sweaty. That combined with the Zoloft withdrawal had me tossing & turning in a sweat all night for a while. Effexor did that while I was taking it (yuck!).

Melotonin never worked for me neither does tryptophan.
SleepyTime tea and chamomile tea helps a little.
But Calms Forte DOES work for me with no sluggish hangover next a.m. either.
Copied ingredients below...don't ask me it just works for me
Passiflora 1X Triple Strength - for restless or wakeful sleep from exhaustion
Avena Sativa 1X Double Strength - for stress, nervousness or nervous headache
Humulus Lupulus 1X Double Strength - for drowsiness with incomplete sleep
Chamomilla 2X (Chamomile) - for nervous irritability
And the following biochemic phosphates for enhancing cellular function:
Calcarea Phosphorica 2X HPUS, Ferrum Phosphoricum 3X HPUS, Kali Phosphoricum 3X HPUS, Natrum Phosphoricum 3X HPUS, Magnesia Phosphoricum 3X HPUS
I've heard Ambien works well with no morning groggy affect.
The first time I took ambien I was up all night! Later I could take two with a bunch of liquor it knocked me out but I did feel groggy in the morning. Klonopin is great but also groggy in the morning & not healthy for long term. Valerian is another herbal that's supposed to work. Long term, I've got to figure out my way through this ADD or depression & get more exercise & such because it's usually not unbearable, it's just that I'm still in a bad rut & worrying about things recently.

Sleep? What's that? :p I get like that sometimes...Lol me thinks everyone knows that but Sometimes ithas nothing to do with meds....It weird I try to go to sleep but heh to no avail and I find myself the same as u at 4:30 In the morning and sometimes stimulated by the goings on on the computer and the net that all of a sudden I see the sun coming up and I find myself again in between awake and asleep....by time I put my head on the Pillow I am down for da count but it doesn't last long cause.Lol like last night for me 4 hours and I am wide awake...Maybe it was the Tea..because I am currently out of dexadrine but have enough of the lamictal..Maybe that has something to do with it too.
Stimulation, Caffeine, Medication, or Just Plain Hyperactive ...Really what does Sleep mean again?

:D I think when it a mix of Meds, Depression, and Hyperactiveness...i find myself awake fer 2 days or once I was awake for 3 days..:eek: So neat to see the pictures of me on the computer screen look at me and wink LMAO!
I'm more or less OK though I didn't sleep any more. I got up at 3:30 & made coffee then. I think I was sort of sleeping from midnight till 2AM. Amazing how patient I was to just lay there from 9:30PM till 2:00AM, I must have slept a little in that time or at least rested (in a restless sort of way). Presumably I'll be tired enough to sleep tonite.
Maybe a little nap, I sometimes nap in the day.
That usually works for me...staying up all day so I can sleep at night....Most of the time it works hehe
fasttalkingmom 12-27-04, 01:44 PM Melotonin does work for me but only if I take half the does they say to take. It I take what they say to I toss and turn and don't get a good sleep. I've never tried anything else.
I also find if I don't go to bed early ( 7-8am which I'll do if I didn't sleep well the night before due to sleepyness) if I stay up till 9:00 or 10:00pm I'll sleep through the night without waking up. I get only 5 or 6 hours this way but I feel less sleepy than when I get 4 hours, wake up for 2 or 3 and the get 1 or 2 more hours before the alarm goes off.
Right now I have sleep trouble 2 weeks out of a month.
Sassafras 01-25-05, 06:30 PM I'm closing in on a month and a half of horrible insomnia - I won't sleep unless I take something potent; benadryl, ativan or ambien.
I was never a great sleeper (once I was up, I was UP) but this is killing me.
I've been going thru insomnia for two weeks now. I don't remember having it this bad before. I've been going thru a break up and I'm thinking it's just the stress that my bods dealin' with. Must.....get.......sleep.................
Also I've had no appetite and I've been in mostly a great mood...kind of a high. WHAT THE !$#$#????

That's hops... the stuff in beer. As a home brewer, I'd always heard it was a mild sedative, and it is. You can buy hops at a home brew shop or a natural foods store, and you can find tea recipes on the web. It works somewhat, but raw hops have a "love-it-or-hate-it" flavor, and it gave me (even more) vivid dreams.
