View Full Version : Member # 500
At an average of 1 to 1.5 new members joining ADDforums per day, and that we have 469 members now, that leaves 31 new members to join before we hit the 500th member.
At 1 member a day it will be 31 days untill # 500 joins.
I predict that # 500 will join on the 31 Day of July !!!!!!!
Any body else want to guess What date # 500 will join on.
fasttalkingmom 06-30-03, 06:48 AM I'll stick with you .........
Hi FTM

fasttalkingmom 06-30-03, 10:37 AM I tried to vote but it wont let me...............
I'll manually add your vote on the 31st, FTM.
fasttalkingmom 06-30-03, 10:57 PM COOL !
joanrdtobe 06-30-03, 11:09 PM I voted July 20th....:D......what do we get if we pick the right date Garry???:D
I dont know I never thought about a prize
But I guess every contest needs a prize
So I will Have to give it some thought
How about a ADDforums.com bumper or window sticker for your car
joanrdtobe 07-01-03, 12:56 AM An ADD bumper sticker....great idea...! I love bumper stickers....On my car right now are several of them.....One says "Go Boston Red Sox". Another one is of Cape Cod (nicest place on earth for the ocean). Another says Loma Linda University. Another talks about Betty Boop and if you don't like my driving then boop boop da doop.....:D
Great prize:D Will you create it???
jimmmaaa 07-01-03, 01:19 AM I think there will some days that are less because of vacations
I own a machine that cuts out letters out of sticky vinyl for making signs and lettering cars
missing_cues 07-01-03, 12:05 PM I just thought it may be interesting to start coming up with possible bumper stickers for people with ADD ("My kid's on the adderall and the honor roll"? maybe a little insensitive, but I would so love to see it...or "I have special Needs...I especially need you to stop tail-gating!" ...."If You can read this, it means I've zoned out and the light has already turned green twice?"
or, if you're a non drinker and like to drive your friends around anyway and your thus a constant designated driver...." DDADD "
feel free to add on your own ideas
aforceforgood 07-01-03, 02:54 PM You're all wrong. I learned early on the power of statistical probability. It will be the 23rd, if 1.5 people sign up per day. I used to work in a movie theater that would get an average of 6 people on tuesday.
Yeah, it wasn't a very good movie theater. But the point is, it used to boggle me that we might get either 5 or 6 or 7 people on tuesday, but that average held. Especially odd was the fact that it wasn't like there were about 7 of the same people who went to the movies on tuesday, but always different.
joanrdtobe 07-01-03, 06:38 PM Um 1.5 people, Force???? Is there REALLY .5 of a person?:D (i.e. 1/2 of a person).....Gee, that person will REALLY be in bad shape.....They have ADD PLUS someone literally cut them in half....:D
Sounds as if Tuesdays at the movies was a slow day....was it worth it for them to be open on that day?? Incidentally, just as I'm about to leave Southern Calif. the movie theater that I have visited sometimes starts allowing credit cards to pay for tickets....
aforceforgood 07-01-03, 08:49 PM well, I was certainly happy about it- lot less work, and I got paid the same to be there whether there were lots of people or not.
And I hate crowds too, so another plus.
The theater closed after about 2 years. That sounds bad, but the reality of that is how long would you work in a movie theater anyway? And we knew it was closing 6 months before it happened, so we had this lame-duck freedom from the tyranny of being concerned about losing your job...
Especially sweet was convincing the assistant manager the parent company had changed their mind and decided to bulldoze the lobby, put up a plexiglass wall, and create the first combo sit-down & drive-in theater. I could hear the manager's laughter over the phone when she asked him if it was true.
aforceforgood 07-01-03, 09:19 PM Oh, and honestly, I've known people I wouldn't even count as half a person...
That 1 to 1.5 was a quick guess on how many people I have seen joining the forum since I joined
But it made for a good tangent to travel off on. I hate movie theaters also I feel like im being hearded like a sheep
wait in line pay too much money for the ticket expensive food
uncomfortable chairs cant talk smoke or light a joint sticky floors cant sit there in your underwear
I wait till it comes out on tv
aforceforgood 07-01-03, 11:33 PM Yeah, my first attempt at going to see the matrix was a NIGHTMARE! I thought it would be a good idea to save a few $ and go to a matinee showing on saturday- NOT. Brought out all the yahoos, it was TOTALLY crowded, there were two elephant people that I kid you not, EACH had their own GARBAGE BAG SIZED bags of popcorn (don't ask me how they snuck those in) which they proceeded to noisily gnaw on like they were chewing on styrofoam.
THEN, 3 kids sat down next to me, one of which STANK like his entire diet consisted of nachos, and everytime he moved, STINK SPORES WAFTED off of him...
People were talking back to the screen- how does a person sit there and watch the SAME "shut-the-H-up" commercial as the other 300 people in the theater and rationalize that that means everyone but HIM/HER? Can someone please explain this cinematic tourettes to me?
THEN some moron started playing with his laser pointer putting a dot on keanu's nose, etc. That was highly entertaining. I'm soo glad that wit was there to enhance that movie for me in that way.
I'd had enough. I left, got a refund, went down to the parking garage, thinking this nightmare was over, but nooooooooooo.... Pablo, the parking lot attendant, whose entire english vocabulary is "two dollars", doesn't understand daylight savings time, the fact that I've only been there for like 40 minutes, that the sign ON HIS BOOTH says that the first hour is free, and that he is the reason that normally unprejudiced people like me become apoplectic at his ignorance making my life miserable at being at the mercy of some retard whose job is to push a button.
After patiently trying to explain to him why I should not have to pay for like 15 minutes (during which there was very little communication) he walks behind my car with a radio and just stays there, calling the security gaurd. I'd had enough, so I just pressed my horn button down and held it there until the gaurd arrived 5 minutes later.
I then tried to explain to THIS moron that due to daylight savings time I should not have to pay, nope, no good, "da clock sez you been here almost 2 hours, you gotta pay." I finally reached into my backpack, grabbed a handful of change, threw it out onto the ground, and told him to open the !@#$% gate. He refused, saying I had to hand him the money nicely, that I couldn't do what I did, so I told him he's lucky I didn't kick his stupid a**, and drove forward until the gateboard was right over my windshield, grabbed it, and drove forward until it snapped off in my hand. I then happily threw it down on the ground and drove off.
So yeah, I'm with you Garry, I DO NOT dig going out to the movies, too much of a hassle. And like you said, all the amenities are at home, with none of the irritating aholes.
Ah, felt good to vent that, I just recently went to the movies in LA, and missed half the movie due to looking for parking. Sheesh. And they wonder why people don't go to the movies as much anymore...
aforceforgood 07-01-03, 11:35 PM Despite the previous post, I'm really a mellow guy, at least until overly provoked. And I was much younger then.
Debralee 07-02-03, 12:21 AM Well Garry ..I voted..and I never am good at guessing. Also wanted to see if my Avatar works..lol..
Deb
joanrdtobe 07-02-03, 12:35 AM Force -- You are TOOOOOOOOO funny:D.......thanks for your movie story....made for some great laughs....in your telling of it....
I think the reason people go to movies is the air conditioning...and to get out of the house....and it makes for an okay "date"......otherwise I'm afraid that VCR's and DVD's....and places like Blockbuster...have put many movie theaters out of business.....I don't mind going once in a while.....Truth be told, I "sneak" in my own soda....don't mind paying $4.00 for popcorn...but I will NOT pay $3.00 for soda....(just my pet peeve)....Hey how did we get from how many will join forums to movie theaters.....:D
the beauty of the ADD mind Joan
aforceforgood 07-02-03, 04:58 AM heh, thanks Joan- you think this thread drift is bad, this is NOTHING- try the Burning Man bbs- their thread drift can get preeetty wild sometimes...
Yeah, it'll be a cool day in hell before I pay that kinda $$ for snacks I'm not even that crazy about... I sneak stuff in in my backpack. That way too, I can have a beer if I wanna.
joanrdtobe 07-02-03, 01:13 PM Oh wow....get plastered in a movie theater?? Now THAT is daring:) Okay, I think there is nothing better than the taste of movie theater popcorn...so I'll pay the ridiculously high price for it...but that's it....the soda, however....NOT:(. Incidentally, Legally Blond 2 with Reese Witherspoon is coming out....I might actually go to a movie theater and see that this weekend in Florida....I move tomorrow....and the theaters in Florida are all very nice....the stadium kind....big cushyseats...and the person in front of you can be very tall and you can still see.....:)
aforceforgood 07-02-03, 09:31 PM Yeah, being a bald guy has it's advantages, I've found. I'm the perfect example of the teddy bear guy who looks like a bada**- and people tend to let me do whatever the heck I want unless it's directly affecting them.
Ok I picked August 4th...it's my dear departed father-n-laws b-day!! and it sounded good..lmbo
I think im going to loose this one
we only need 14 more and there are still27 days to go till the 31 of July
Man was I out to lunch on July 31st
were at 493 members and theres still 25 days left in the month
I wonder if the Moderator would let me change my vote grin
joanrdtobe 07-07-03, 02:55 PM That's okay Garry....know why? This TOO can be an "ADD issue". It just occurred to me....for me, I tend to either overestimate things (i.e. how much time it will take me to complete a task) OR underestimate things (i.e. how much time it will take me to complete a task!!). You simply overestimated....therefore it MUST be an ADD issue. If not, let's make it one, okay????
Incidentally, this is a true statement about me. I do overestimate or underestimate.....rarely do I predict things right on the nose:(
Nah I like the fact that I screwed up Makes me try harder the next time
joanrdtobe 07-07-03, 09:25 PM Really??? Not me.....usually when I have screwed up, I probably had already given it my best....which is why I LOVE Tara's saying how it isn't about trying harder but trying differently.....:)
aforceforgood 07-08-03, 04:35 AM All right, we're at 496 and it's only the 8th, who's been out stumping!
Looks like the 20th is gonna be closest (doh!), who had that?

Thanks to all who participated and thanks to E-Boy for being #500
unreal33 07-10-03, 11:25 AM I voted for July 9. Didn't anyone see my vote???
;)
joanrdtobe 07-10-03, 02:06 PM Nope, don't see your vote...where is it? But since you did vote for July 9, you are the winner....:) ERIC is the winner.....!!
So I predicted that Member 500 would join by July 31
Boy was I wrong
So now the question is
How many members will we have by July 31st at 12:00 midnight
which is a this Thursday night.
So 4 days to go hummmmmmmmmm !!!
We have 564 right now so I say 575 members by July 31st at 12:00 midnight
joanrdtobe 07-27-03, 01:11 PM I say 572 (that's eight more, two per day):)
member 600 is 5 members away
Member 500 was our very own E-boy - his 15 minutes of fame in life
Member 2000 is soon approaching , anyone care to state the time and day of the 2000 member
Yeah, and I didn't win nuthin'! :-(
Of course, I did get a lot of attention and that was plenty of fun. :-)
