View Full Version : Amphetamine Salts Keppig 07-01-03, 12:35 PM Are Amphetamine Salts equal to Adderal? This is what my insurance approved of. Are they the same? cobweb 07-01-03, 07:32 PM that is the generic equivalent..Adderall is a brand name Keppig 08-02-03, 12:35 AM I stopped taking my new meds because my anxiety went through the roof. I'm back on ridalin (5mg) with an antidepressant, working really good. Tara 08-02-03, 11:11 AM That's great to hear you are doing better. Many Drs aren't aware that taking stimulants alone can make anxiety worse. smooch 08-04-03, 09:42 AM Were you taking an extended release version? I'm not sure if there has been a generic version of AdderallXR made yet, but when I was taking the "short-acting" Adderall generic version, I noticed my anxiety also got waaaaayy outta hand.... XR works much better for me.... Keppig 08-04-03, 07:14 PM Ridalin is a stimulant but it doesn't make my anxiety worse, though it could be because I take only 5mg at a time. I was using the extended release one and yes it cause my anxiety to go big time. I'm on a combination of Lexapro, 5mg for depression and Ridalin 5 mg. So far I'm still smiling :D Tara 08-04-03, 07:25 PM The Lexapro may be part of the reason the Ritalin doesn't affect your anxiety. Keppig 08-04-03, 07:28 PM No, I have been using the ridalin for three years, Lexapro for only a week. It was the ridalin that stopped my panic attacks a few months ago. douglasbrooker 10-15-04, 03:43 AM In general, for an overview of what manufacturers are currently producing generics for all the ADD meds, go to http://www.betterchem.com/index.html. It's a handy who's who of generic. Anyone who has read some of my posts know I recommend Mallinkrodt. I believe they make a generic version of everything, ritalin, dex, and adderall, the Big Three. I have taken their Rit and now I'm on dex. I've taken the brands. There is no difference, period. But if you go on betterchem.com you will find six or seven others, including everybody's least favorite, Barr Labs. Based on various feedback, they are to generic drugs as Rent a Wreck is to car rental companies. I don't know about Barr, I have not dared to sample their product, but I know about Rent A Wreck. Sure, it was $20 for the day, this Ford Escort wagon. Then five hours later it stalled in freeway traffic and when I tried to start it up again, black smoke starting pouring from the hood. I think Barr will let you down with similarly annoying and nerve-wracking regularity. blueyemass1979 10-18-04, 07:10 PM I went to http://www.betterchem.com/index.html and could not find Adderall listed. Where is it? douglasbrooker 10-18-04, 09:09 PM When you go to the site, on the left side click on Generic Drugs. There will be a row of letters. If you want to find generic manufacturers of adderall, click "A" or "D" to look up anything with amphetamine or dextroamphetamine. You would click "M" to look up all companies making generic Ritalin (methamphetamine). If you clicked "D", you will see every generic drug beginning with that letter. Find dextroamphetamine and click it. When you get to the next window, scroll all the way to the bottom. In this list, you will the generic manufacturers in red and underscored, and after their name the dosages and formulations they offer for anything containing dextroamphetamine, by itself or in combo with amphetamine, which is adderall. The manufacturers are Barr, Mallinkrodt, Watson, Abrika, Eon, etc. If you click on the company name it will take you to where you can see every generic drug that particular company makes. You can use this to call pharmacies and find out who has the lowest price for a particular generic. I like Mallinkrodt, so I look around for who carries it for the cheapest price. If you need more guidance let me know. |
