It's about 93 and very humid here today....

I've never been able to tolerate the heat well. Meaning my mood, I get very grouchy, angry and inpatient. It can feel like, if I'm going to be hot for a min. longer my head is going to blow up.....

I was wondering if this could be and ADD thing....anyone else have a heat intoleratance ?

Me too! And guess what Paula....a LOT of us here in Tampa Florida just lost our power.....(I'm briefly at a Kinko's right now)....YUCK...so no AC or ceiling fans at the moment....hope it comes back on by bedtime...or I will sweat to death while I try to sleep...yuck:( But I SO understand what you're saying....

I think it's more of a sensitivity thing, not necessarily just the heat. I love the heat...but I HATE WINTER!!! I live in MD and this past winter was awful...I really got depressed!! I just can't stand being cold!

I hear ya, Alison! I personally don't mind the cold weather, so long as I have layers of clothes...and four-wheel drive :D

I have a horrrribly low heat tolerance. I'm usually the first one to perspire, the first one to ask "Is it hot in here or is it just me?"

Heat usually reduces my patience substantially. I try not to be around others much when I'm feeling this way.

I don't think it is just an ADD thing. Because although the heat bothers me, I know people who have other medicl problems like diabetics, heart problems, and some with no health problems at all that are effected worse than me by the heat. Now, I do think that certain meds can make you more subsecptable to the heat. Mine do. I usually don't take them when it is going to be really hot cause they make me sick. Anyways, just my little old opinion.

Paula -- the power came back last night after just 30 minutes...thanks goodness....I wasn't even home, obviously, to see it return....I do as well despise the cold and winter, Alison....that is why I moved to Florida - then California for school - and back to Florida....I actually was born and raised in Boston...and the winters there -- freeeeeeezing....

Well that's great Paula...that you love the snow, etc...so Massachusetts suits you well....Gosh, I can't belive the humidity difference between Florida and California....I've been here in Florida for a whole 4 days and already I'm sweating like a pig....in fact no more outdoor walks....I'll have to "mall" walk....That's okay....I'm glad I'm just a short plane ride from my family now....:)

I love warm weather and despise cold. I grew up in hawaii, that could have somethingto do with it! When I get cold like just 6o I feel life threatened. I also hate to have to wear lots of clothing it is very hard for me to dress appropiatly in the winter.
I have been skiing and LOVED it!! I didn't mind as much as long as I keep moving fast!

Heat and humidity don't really bother me but I grew up in south Georgia where it's routinely over 100 degrees in the summer with very high humidity. I doubt it would be an ADD thing but I don't really know for sure.

I hate the heat too. Always have. You can put more clothes on when it's cold, but you can only take so many off before the policeman starts to object...

I think that may be why there's so much strife in the middle east too. That may sound simplistic, and it is, but come on, fighting for thousands of years? After a while, wouldn't you have to think, hmmm, maybe we should try something different- unless you're stupid with the heat.

If we didn't have the Heat we would have Winter

Winter + Canada = Cold

Cold makes you look forward to Summer and appreciate the heat

I went to Florida in March one year when its cold in Canada

I hated it as it was to Hot and I couldn't wait to get back home to the cold so I could start counting the days untill the one day when you step outside and really really smell SPRING in the air.

I feel sorry for you guys in the warm states as I dont think you can really appreciate spring as we do

After 6 months of cold ( 10 degrees below 0 Celcius) ( or about 0 degrees farenheight ) 2 degrees celcius or 38 degrees farenheight is actully what I consider a warm day

Nope. Heck, I was standing next to one of those repellant yard torches when last in Florida, and that seemed to make them bite me even more :( :(

I hate being overheated. I think humidity plays a big role in it too. I also hate misquito bites. I can get very frustrated by either. I am the first to notice how hot it is in the house and that i'm sweating, at which point i think im going to crawl out of my skin and my skull...and the temp is only up a degree or two from my comfort level. I think its very possible there is a connection, based on the strong reactions to this post topic, and several people talking about their strong emotional or physical discomfort in heat. I think since ADD is neurological and controlling body temperature (internal) is also neurological, there may be a connection in the mechansism in the brain that stabalizes temperature and other internally regulated processes. This could be another clue, directing us to the basil ganglia or the hypothalamus, or whatever latin named thingamajugger is the latest and greatest in controlling our impulses, moods, concentration, etc. Personally, I go nuts when the temp goes up a little, so maybe my internal regulation is not as good as others. This could be measured scientifically and would be a great project for someone doing research.

Glad to know others suffer immeasurably as I always have!!
