Am I the only one who sometimes thinks it takes too long to pee? Especially when you think you're done, but you aren't. I think my body loses focus or something. :p

On the other hand I can be very patient with for example children or old people. :)

In discussions with my therapist, (who specializes in ADD) she said something to me that makes sense. We, as ADD'ers will be patient, focused, and attentive to those things we find "worthy of our attention". If something comes along we have no interest in, we have a tendency to disregard it, and not give it our due attention.

It sounds like to me that pee'ing, is "not worthy of your attention". :)

I say that tongue in cheek, but I believe there is definately some truth to that. I have a similiar problem. I have difficulty finishing the job, so to speak. It wasn't until it became a problem "visible" by others, that it became worthy of my attention, and miraculously, the problem just seemed to disappear by itself...

Dunno if that helps, but... that's my $0.02.

but there is more and this is probably worth less than .02  , but there are times when I really don't even want to take the time to pee!

:o &

and that can be a realllll problem...

timodo, I think that was very well said, thats my understanding also. Its kind of like the focus thing, when something peaks our interest, its like getting medication, and we can focus, be patient, ect. Medication helped me with these things.

& sometimes the right medication can thwart our every effort for a good, quick pee.
it seem funny, but really is serious (according to my P-doc:D )
wasent but a few years ago, i would be driving down the road doing my job & just didnt have time to pee.
later on i passed a stone. dunno if the 2 were related, but as impaitent as i get with this container im in, i make time for that one thing cause i dont ever wanna feel that again.

HAHA yeah I sometimes forego peeing unless absolutely necessary becuase I can't be bothered to take the time out to do it. What sometimes also happens in regards to peeing is I'll get up to go to the bathroom and end up in the kitchen or somewhere else and forget I had to pee at all.
I have the worst time paying attention in converstaions with my parents..well, not just them, but the lectures most often I am most impatient with. Have you ever had this experience..someone is talking and you're listening sorta but focusing more on something else and you all of a sudden somehow lose body control and you getup and leave without at all meaning to? I really honestly don't mean to do it but I do it probably every second day if not daily. Obviously a lot because they have gotten over being bothered by it and now just follow me around the house.
One more question..does anyone have a really hard time sitting or standing still when someone is talking to you or staying on the same track? And is it hard keeping eye contact when in a one on one conversation face to face?

OMG!!!i was convienced it was just cause i had a brain cramp or i was uniquely mental in some way...:D
for me thats a respect thing--attentive listening ive noticed seem to happen naturally when its with a person i admire/respect/love.
dassent happen too often. otoh years ago i taught myself that eye contact was a great defense (self image issues) & i could stare at the tip of the others nose if i didnt want to look in the eye :p .

at work if someone needs to talk to me they will sometimes have to follow me down the hall, or put up with my weaving rocking back & forth leaning to & fro stuff...that didnt happen on purpose, I just want them to get to the point & let me get on with my job--yes, usually it is tough for me to stay still when someone is talking to me.

lmao!! You can definately tell this is a forum for ADD'ers. What started out as a thread about the difficulties with a simple daily task, (pee'ing) and has run the gamut to being about how to maintain eye contact with someone while having a conversation....

Oh my goodness, YES! My husband is always harassing me to look at him when he talks to me, but when I do I have trouble listening. Is that weird or what. Doesn't anybody else relate to that? I like to be doing something (ie: washing dishes or some kind of busy work) when someone is talking to me. Otherwise I frequently feel like it goes on forever. It's almost physically painful in my stomach -- feel like jumping out of my skin. I'm always jumping to different subjects or interrupting and getting to the punch line. The exception is when I'm really interested in the topic and then I do better (still probably jump in too soon).

No pee problems for me, but my daughter (who is probably also ADHD) has major ones! Never wants to leave what's she's doing to go pee and frequently goes right in front of the toilet because she waited to long to head there.

Only here can you have conversations like this.

Wow, that so makes sense now. I have thought over time that my ADD was there sometimes, and not other times. But that def makes sense, its so true, I do pay attention more when I am interested in what is being said.

"It's almost physically painful in my stomach -- feel like jumping out of my skin." Scattered, that line made me think of another question I have that I think is pretty relevant to this post. Does anyone know that really tense, terrible feeling when you have been sitting still too long and can't stay in that position, or you have to listen to a really long conversation, like you said Scattered, that just wont go away until you move or change what you're doing? Its a really restless feeling..it just makes you want to move, shuffle, just GET OUT OF THERE. Its uncomfortable..I really don't know how to describe it. If someone thinks they can interpet this, please let me know. I thought it was normal but I asked my best friend about it(non Adder) and she thought I was nuts. Does anyone here relate?

Well, obviously I relate. Never thought about the fact that other people might not experience it. What a concept!

My daughter will actually take my face in both her hands and go on and on and on. I try to be a good mommy and sit there and listen, but I want to get away so badly it's ridiculous.

No doubt ! I'm also laughing my dupa off ! That's why I love this forum, I totally understand how this happens, and love that I can thread some discussion into something totally different, and someone will always run with it, like I am able to.
I've read some of my posts, and they start off with good intentions, and even halfway through my own post, I find myself on a totally different subject, LMAO !!
This is too funny, y'all !

Yes, like something tingly or thickening is under the skin, and a tight feeling in stomach and all over. Very hard to describe. I get this mostly when trying to do something tiny and difficult that is not working; like removing a splinter from someone else. Or when asked to do something I know I will fail at; like mental arithmatic with an audience.:(
