Anybody else do this?

No matter what I read I find myself reading only the right half of the page it makes it hard to understand the book, that's why I like books on tape.

If you mean, you read the top half of a page, cause you dont have the patience to read the second half - then I certainly understand! I had that very problem in school, with textbooks!

I'm with Andrew 100% on this one...which is why I've never read a novel....and getting through a textbook in school...pure
torture:(

I guess I should add, that if the book was on a topic I loved, I would devour it.

When I was a kid, I was really into The Hardy Boys adventure series. I read these books so fast and furiously, that my parents would just leave me at the bookstore to read.

Wish I could have harnessed that reading appetite for school books.

Nope, not what I ment. take a book, open it, cover the left half of a page and read that part only..... That's what I mean. It's almost like I've had a stroke or something, but I haven't.

I really have to force myself to read the whole page.

Listen Topcat, I'm curious, if that's your thing, how did you ever read any full sentence? Except for the very short ones, of course? I'm asking because usually a full sentence covers the entire page from left to right and if you've covered one half of the page, how do you SEE a full sentence at all?:)

Like a stroke? You sound too young for a stroke:) (although my cousin's husband DID have one unfortunately at the age of 50, poor guy:( )

I can force myself to read the whole page it's not easy and I lose intrest. I read the newspaper ok and like the crossword.

It's just a pain it the butt to try to read a book and I lose interest fast.

How about walking along and for some reason some word or phrase pops into your head? One time that happened and I realized that I read it without even realizing it.

Now everytime that happens, I look around and invariably it's something I read without even realizing it. Apparently, a quick glance is all it takes for me to subconciously read something.

I can also read upside down. I can read mirror written text with a bit more difficulty.

I've done that a few times... I'll swear I saw some word while looking down at a page of material or at a web page on the screen, but then I'll actually look for the word and not be able to find it... then I read on and it is in fact there.

Same here. I've always found it strange that other people couldn't read things easily upside-down... hee.

I'm left handed, wonder if that has anything to do with it.
