I was just involved in a similar conversation. Older words have fallen off the planet. There are many that are so concise to what we mean, that and we've gone to using vernacular that includes so few words. It would be so much better to someone like me for it to be said "turn down the setting on the thermostat" vs. "turn up the AC". Does turning up the AC mean making it colder or making it warmer? I'm easily confused at this stuff.
