So, I was replying to someones post on how to better wake up in the morning with ADD? Here is what I put:

What works the best for me...if you have a fulltime job....is going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. Don't eat, smoke, drink or whatever a few hours before you go to bed because those things can cause your mind to wander off and not get as much sleep as you think you are getting. Try going to a walmart or target and buying one of those clocks that you set from the back. They come in brass color I believe. When it goes off, a little thing at the top rattles annoyingly loud. Sometimes I find with my ADD, when I set an alarm, if I am in REM stages at the time, I will be in a library full of books somewhere in my dream on a secret mission trying to find a bomb before it goes off and the bomb clock sounds exactly like the alarm clock ROFL...I would just suggest the first few things because setting your body's natural alarm clock is the best thing to do when you have ADD

Now, on account of the dreams I have...does anyone else get those? I hate when I can't wake up lol

Yes, I often incorporate things I hear into my dreams. I use a clock radio and I frequently incorporate part of a news story into my dreams. Once I dreamt I was stranded in Antartica ...only to awaken and hear that they were sending a rescue team to rescue an ill researcher (I think she had cancer) from the South Pole. When Saddam was caught, in my dream I was right there, pulling him out by his toes. More typically, I dream of some horrific traffic accident and I'm trying to find my way past the accident. Sometimes I believe I'm already on my way to work ...only to awaken and realize that I'm late AND I'm gonna have to find another route to work because there really is a horrific traffic accident.

I do that all the time. I used to think I had narcolepsy... I couldn't fall asleep at night and couldn't wake up in the morning. Then I was convinced that it wasn't narcolepsy but just depression. As I got over the depression my sleep got better, but I still keep weird hours... sleeping from 5am till noon or so.

I just stumbled across ADD on the net about 48 hours ago... I spent all day at Barnes & Noble yesterday reading The Edison Gene and Driven to Distraction. After that I'm 90% sure that I have ADD. So I'm new to this, and excited because now its a problem that I can attack as opposed to a character flaw I need to hide.

I'm trying to figure out which areas of my life my potential ADD affects... does the following make any sense to you guys...

When I shouldn't be sleepeing... as in if its a nap when I'm procrastinating something, if its the middle of the day, if its right after I wake up in the morning... I can fall asleep in three seconds. No trouble. But when I "should" fall asleep... when I lay down at night... I can't do it. Its almost like I have this anxiety that keeps me awake -- a fear of failure that seems to be persistent in other areas of my life that's afraid that I won't be able to fall asleep -- and I don't.

But to answer your original question... I wake up with someone shaking me after dreaming about burglar alarms with my head three feet from the alarm clock that's been going off for thirty minutes. Happens about once or twice a month.
