........now these figures are rough .......not exact....

...but it's been just about 36 weeks since I quit....maybe a bit more, but let's just say ....

....that means ....at a $42 a week carton, ...I have not spent $1,512 ..on cigarettes ....

.....and 200 cigarettes a week not smoked, that's 7,200 cigarettes I didn't smoke !!!

......Now I have spent quite a bit on the different types of e cigs, and e liquids ....probably about $500 or so ....

.....which is 1/3 of the money I would have spent on reg cigs...

.....thank you ....thank you very much ...* takes a bow*

....Now I am 62, so my lungs probably won't be able to get back to brand new ....but those of you who are a decade or 2 or more younger than me .....you guys can get lungs as good as new .....

I knew a guy with an ordinary job and a beautiful swimming pool in his back yard. When people asked him how he could afford the pool, he said "That's my cigarette money." :)

Congrats, salleh! I quit in 1988. . .I think my lungs should be pretty OK by now. I had to do it cold turkey, because moderation in anything is not my strong suit. I used to smoke 3 packs a day - I'd go broke smoking that much now!

.....I did it the only way I could .....tried patches, tried nicotine gum, tried lozenges,.....nothing worked .....

.....so someone here was talking about e cigs .....so I thought ...eh why not give it a try .....long story short......within 2 weeks I stopped smoking reg cigs .....and was smoking e cigs instead ....

..I use a fairly heavy in nicotine "juice" in them .....they are vaporizers that heat up that juice and you are really vaping rather than smoking ....

....and there are lots of different kinds of e cigs ....and finding the right combination takes a while, I am still working it out ....

...now this is a link to the newbies primer ...it is on a sales site...but the thing is kinda long to do anything but give you a link to it ...I just found it last night and I was impressed ...it really lays out the whole thing about e cigs .....

http://www.smoktek.com/NEWBIE-Primer_ep_42.html

....and while it isn't cheap, it is about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of regular cigs.....and the nicotine is still there if you want it ....( juice comes in varying amount of nicotine , and you can get it with no nicotine .....)

...so I still "smoke" ....but it doesn't leave smoke in your hair, your clothes , ....it has none of the bad stuff that reg cigs have .....

so far it isn't illegal anywhere , but you can believe the cig companies are trying to get them banned ....

....

It is hugely confusing to start with, and I researched a LOT ....and was still confused when I just kinda jumped in and sent away for the first kit ....

..I won't go into detail here, but if you want to quit smoking .....do give it a try ....you can even buy the "Blu" cigarette at the drug store .....it is very strong ! ....

and it will take time and messing around with different types and styles....kinda like finding the right ADD meds ....but since I like gadgets I am having fun ......

and there is a forum for the e cigs ...but it is huge and confusing and people talk about stuff as if you know what they're refering to ...but that is one group that tries really hard to be helpful ....I asked a question yesterday , and had 8 replies within a couple of hours .....

anyway .....give it a try ....

Salleh, that's brilliant!!! I think I've read somewhere that your body recovers from the effects of smoking within 10 smoke free years. Anyway, I guess, every cigarette that isn't smoked benefits your health.

Well done and thanks for the break-down. It's a good reminder how much money you can save once you quit. Sigh, and I'm really looking forward to a time when I don't constantly stink anymore...

woo! congrats thats a lot of money saved!

I've cut down from daily smoking to smoking only when I'm drinking.. I would quit altogether but I find it impossible to go out drinking and socialising when all my friends smoke.
