Hi!
How does Adderall dissolve in your system? I take 3 capsules each morning (each 30mgs.) and am curious how they are absorbed into my system. Do they each dissolve at the same time? I'm just curious how exactly this works.
If anyone has input on this I'd appreciate it.
Thanks :)

Yes, they are all absorbed at the same time. The largest form adderall xr is dispensed in is 30mg, so to reach the 90mg/day you have been prescribed you must take 3 at once.

Wait, you take 3 30mg tablets a morning? Isn't that a ridiculously high dosage??

you're getting 90 mg total regardless of what time you take them. if you take 3 30s in the morning, you are getting an initiial 45mgs. and then 4-6 hours later (this is highly individualized) the other 45mgs is released. but it would still be the same 90mg if you took them at different times of the day. the issue is, do you feel you get enough coverage and LONG enough coverage? if so, carry on. if not, try spreading them out.
check out the thread: article on long acting stimulant use btw. it has some really good info you might find helpful.

90 is a lot to start out on...i assumed this was not your initial dose but had been titrated. i take 90 mgs total a day but started a lot lower. it's the dose that works for me. the difference is, i take it spread out, not all at once. it gives me the longer coverage i was talking about, and i don't get an initial blast of 45mg. it's really all a timing thing. if this is what your doc has you on and it's working well, i wouldn't worry about the comments anyone may make about it being high. it IS higher than a lot of people. it's higher than a lot of docs would even consider, frankly. but that alone doesn't make it the incorrect tx for you.
that said, don't forget 2 keep in close contact with the doc and keep an eye on your blood pressure. 90 hasn't affected mine at all.
good luck....
