Its been a week and I didn't sleep at all last night and on average have been getting 2 hours of sleep a night since taking Adderall. I did not take any other stimulant including coffee today. I need to sleep. I just don't think its worth it to me even though the meds itself helped a lot. Anyone else with similar experiences?

I just started taking adderall two weeks ago and have not had any problem sleeping, but I think I am on a low dose since I just started it. Are you on the long acting one? I am taking 10mg of generic once a day.

I have dealt with insomnia for a while (not due to meds) and there are meds you can take for sleep (I take Trazedone - prescription, non-habit forming . . ) or you could try the immediate release of Adderall. The immediate release only lasts about 5 hours. I take 2 doses a day, that way, there is no way the meds will make my insomnia worse.

Dont give up just yet....my insomnia lasted about 2 weeks and then subsided. Then, I stopped taking the meds (25XR and occasionally 10/20 instant) for a month during winter break from college and now that I'm back and taking them, I'm experiencing the insomnia again....however, I am hoping that like last time, my body just needs time to adjust

i take adderall xr during the top of the day generally (20 mgs) and if its in the afternoon i don't even bother...i have bouts of insomnia, i'll wake in the middle of the night and just stay awake or i'll feel absolutely revved up when its time to go to bed. my sleeping in otherwords is just erratic. period. it was like that before meds for long stretches...so there's no telling...

After struggling with insomnia at first, I found if there's atleast 10 hours between my last dose of adderall and bed time i have no trouble sleeping. Some suggestions that might help too: when you sleep make sure your room is completely dark and quiet, and about an hour before you sleep do activities that slow your mind down, i.e. dont watch tv or play video games.

You think that's bad. My senior yr in highschool i was AWAKE from Sunday morning to Friday morning like 2 or 3 am EVERY WEEK. Id usually end up crashing friday morning and not waking up on time for school. I dont really mind the lack of sleep because i dont sleep much without it but i look at it like the more hours you're awake, the more time you have to be productive... Im sure not everyone looks at it this way but hey, ive been taking it for a little over 5 yrs now (during school year mostly and occasionally throughout each summer) and Ive established a system that works for me
