No idea about the IF of the journal that published this, and it's a very small study (104 subjects), but it's an interesting look at how Bipolar symptoms might be distinguishable from Major Depressive Disorder. Tell me what you think!

Psychomotor slowing, self-blaming/feelings of worthlessness, increased appetite, leaden paralysis/loss of physical
energy, and weight increase were significantly more frequent in bipolar depression than in unipolar depression (p<0.05). Early
morning insomnia was significantly more frequent in unipolar depression (p<0.05).

This is consistent with my own depressive episodes, including those episodes that predated my first hypomanic pisode and bipolar dx.

Conclusions:
It would be worthwhile identifying the relative importance of clinical indicators for probable BP in large-scale

prospective studies. These would contribute to the better diagnostic assessment of major depressive episodes and therapeutic

decision-making.

Yeah, I would like to see a larger study.

Edit: Sorry, I couldnt read through it too much. Is the increase appetite and decreased energy from the bipolar or the bipolar meds?
