My husband, my daughter, and I are all ADD. My daughter and I started medication about a year and a half ago, but my husband decided to wait and start recently (middle of December). He has begun on Adderal XR and now is up to 60 mg., which he bagan about three weeks ago. He started out with 20 mg(I think), then up to 30 mg. The 30 mg. wasn't cutting it, so his Neuro raised it to 60.
I take Ritalin and Strattera, so I'm not positive if these are normal reactions, but I'm a little concerned that they aren't, so I thought I'd ask here. I guess it's kind of hard because you don't know him. but since starting on the 60 mg. I have noticed that he can't stop talking in the morning, approximately an hour after he takes his pills. He talks a lot about how much better he feels and how he is finally going to be able to get the things done that he has wanted to do for years, but couldn't because of his lack of focus. I know he's excited, but he seems like a different person. Sometimes I'm thinking to myself "shut up already"! But of course, I would never say that!
I've also noticed that he seems to get a little hyper focused on things more than usual. For a week, our Internet Explorer was on the blink, and he couldn't figure out how to fix it, and he basically spent every moment he was at home working on the computer, except for when he was sleeping (which he did less) and when he HAD to be doing something else. He came home from work, said hi to my daughter and I, and then headed right up to the computer. When I called him to dinner, he showed up 10 minutes later, and sometimes he stayed up until midnight working on it. I asked him if maybe he was being a little obsessive, and he said that it was a war between him and the computer and da#$%it, he was going to win it! Of couse, he did fix it, but I don't know, it seemed a little obsessive to me.
If anyone has any input, I'd very much appreciate it!
