I always get a little overwhelmed at the beginning of a school term. I take a max courseload, with advanced classes, and I have my three year old to take care of (though it should be noted that I do my college junk online, but that doesn't make it easier, that just means they make us write more papers to make up for the fact that we don't take tests.)
This time, though, I have two classes that are hard, one of which seems to be impossible to complete all the work at the assigned time (every class varies, but this one has a short amount of time in-between "start this section" and "give me your work and go to the next part.") It's a film analysis class. I took it 'cause this is my last term before I graduate and I wanted to do something fun. Turns out that advanced Neurobiology is easier. We have: videos we rented (2) to review every 1 1/2 weeks and write a (7-10? I think) page paper on, film clips on CD-ROM to write another paper on, a "supplemental educational" video about film analysis" to write a paper on, and a minimum of four hours a week on discussion (which is kind of like this forum but not as well-structured.) We also have reading assignments. This class is set up in such a way that if you have some sort of last-minute problem, there's no f***ing way you can just half-@$$ it and make it look like you read everything. You literally have to read and watch EVERYTHING to get the assignments done. And it's all got to be done each week or two weeks.
I have, besides that, Neurobiology, Development of Gender Identity, and a class about Domestic Abuse. They're all advanced level, and they're all hard. But I can get them done. I'm already a week past the day that I can withdraw or switch classes & get my money back, but for purposes of grades & graduating & maintaining my sanity, it's actually worth flushing thousands of dollars down the toilet, as odd as that sounds.
Someone give me some feeback here. I tried to call the prof, e-mail her, send her a private message in the course area...no response.
