Teacher sent this note home with a six-year-old boy: "He is too stupid to learn." That boy was Thomas A. Edison

Thomas Edison is the famous inventor who invented the light bulb among many other things. It is thought that Edison had ADHD and it is reported that many of his teachers considered him stupid because he couldn't pay attention or sit still. It's an illustration that some schools just don't get ADHD kids and don't know how to help them reach their potential.

My son can laugh at this now but at the time it did a lot of damage.

In his class were two very bright students and the teacher commented that these two students were always in competition with each other to get the highest marks.

He then commented that my son and another boy seemed to be in competition to get the lowest marks.

He only told me about this comment after he had left the school. This year since starting meds he has passed all but one end of year exam. This alone has done so much to erase some of damage of that comment.

I saw the bright girl from his old class the other day and she asked about my son (they were good friends at primary school). I told her of his exams results and she did a double take (I love that, hes been getting that reaction from everyone), what, your son, unbelievable, Im so pleased for him.

That's unacceptable. How can anyone be so cruel (and ignorant/stupid/careless...)? That too a teacher?? :(
