Wellbutrin is a very interesting medication. I am an adult who was put on wellbutrin for depression and accidentally discovered some very good side effects. I was unaware of these side effects until I mentioned one to my psychiatrist. The first side effect I became aware was sexual in nature and not appropriate for this site although my psychiatrist verified that it was from the wellbutrin. The second side effect was a noticeable increase in concentration. I never told the psychiatrist about the increase in attention and she took me off the wellbutrin as I was on another antidepressant and she did not want me on two. I was only taken off a short while when I read that wellbutrin DOES increase one's attention span. I was really surprised that it was not my imagination and that it was the wellbutrin increasing my concentration. And as is common knowledge of the anti-smoking properties of(zyban)wellbutrin.
I have nothing bad to say about this med. and may ask to be put back on it. Guess i am rather long winded..Sorry. Any comments appreciated. terrics

Wellbutrin is an excellent drug for some people. It's one of the best kept secrets in pharmacology. If it were not for the wrong dosing schedule, which caused seizures in some people, then it would have hit the market before prozac and Wellbutrin would have a very different history. At its proper dosage it has less a chance of causing seizures than SSRI's. I definitely like the pro-sexual side effects. It does a nice job of counteracting the side effects of the Zoloft I'm taking. It's like love potion #9. High Dopamine levels attract the opposite sex. People who fall in love have high dopamine levels. The Norepinephrine and Dopamine that is elevated as a result of Wellbutrin increase the good things in life: libido, alertness, concentration, enthusiasm, love, energy, motivation, drive, passion...

It's a great drug for some people. Here's some interesting articles about Wellbutrin. The first article from salon.com talks about its pro-sexual side effects. The second is a controlled clinical trial showing effectiveness for ADD.

i have stated similiar things about wellbutrin myself, and i am almost reluctant to state them b/c i don't want ppl thinking that think b/c there is a good side effect that isn't associated with its primary intention its probably : abused, should be controlled further or whatever...
am i being paranoid? i just don't want to speak up aboutit either b/c i prize my wellbutrin...before i started taking it tried lexepro and paxil and they were both useless, just made me feel like a zombie, stole my sex drive (which was already at an all time low anyway) made me gain weight....
i can't say enough about wellbutrin..its been a lifesaver.

I understand what youre saying...Our government doesn't have a problem with people being zombies, it just doesn't want people to feel good and to enjoy sex. Zombies are easier to control. God forbid if people started waking up to reality. Reminds me of the movie "They Live."

"Stay Asleep!" "Consume!" "Don't Think!"
